THE RAILWAY STATION
Step back in time by taking the Heritage Walking Tour.  Find out the original existence of buildings and lots that built this community. Combermere, Barry's Bay and Wilno boost a historical presence. Take the tour on your own or with Ken Ramsden, Fridays at 2 p.m., pre-register at the Railway Station.
FITNESS CENTRE
Due to the construction work occurring at the Madawaska Valley District High School, the Madawaska Valley Fitness Centre will be unable to continue operating throughout the months of July and August, 2016, re-opening in September 2016 with a brand new schedule providing more sports and programs at the facility.

Municipal Household Hazardous Waste Days:
  1. Saturday, July 9, 2016, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 39844 Combermere Road, Yard 2, Municipal Garage,  Combermere. Please note this joint event is open to residents of Madawaska Valley, Brudenell Lydnoch and Raglan, and Hastings Highlands 
  2. Saturday, August 20, 2016, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 65 Arena Road, Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre Yard 1 Municipal Garage, Barry's Bay. Please note this event is open to residents of Madawaska Valley Township only.
The Railway Station Presents:

Madawaska Valley Geology Rocks Exhibition Upper Gallery at The Railway Station June 17th - July 24th. 
Madawaska Valley Geology Rocks features samples of gems and minerals that can be found in and around the Madawaska Valley along with interpretative information about the geological history of our region. 

Recreational Geology in the Madawaska Valley
We are excited to introduce a new guide exploring the geology of the Madawaska Valley area.  Learn about how the Madawaska Valley was formed, visit collecting sites and discover how geology has shaped the lives of the people living here for thousands of years.  Download your copy of the guide here http://madawaskavalley.ca or visit The Railway Station to pick one up. 

Recreational Geology for Kids - Tuesday July 5,  10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
Learn about fossils and join the fossil hunt with Caveman Chris at the Railway Station.  Then head over to the Madawaska Valley Public Library to uncover gems and minerals with Rockhound Rob. All ages, Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. $5.  Please contact The Railway Station to register. (613) 756 5885 - tourism@madawaskavalley.ca
OPERATIONS 
The Operations Department provides a weekly updated list on where they will be working over the summer so you can determine if it will impact your travel.
The Connecting Link, Hwy 60, Opeongo Line will be receiving upgrades to the curb and gutters this year, as well as thermo plastic painting at the courtesy crosswalks.

Movies Under the Stars
at Water Tower Park, Barry’s Bay. (around 9:30 p.m.)
Bring your family and friends, blankets and chairs, for a wonderful evening under the stars. Free admission, donations appreciated.

Age-friendly communities promote healthy and active aging through policies, programs, services, civic participation and surrounding environment. People in age-friendly communities are supported in maintaining their independence and have access to the community supports and services they require. The Township of Madawaska Valley is championing the development of an overall Rural Renfrew County Age Friendly Community Planning Template.
 
The Township of Madawaska Valley is interested in hearing from you in regards to Age Friendly Community Planning through our downloadable survey. Check out www.madawaskavalley.ca for a copy of the survey. We ask that completed surveys be returned to the Township no later than July 24th 2016.
