I would like to start my letter with a BIG thank you to all of our parents and grandparents who came out to volunteer at today’s Wolf Run! From our water volunteers, to our tally markers, to our feet washers, please know that ALL of your SUPPORT is greatly appreciated!! We are very fortunate to have a supportive and strong school community!
A BIG thank you as well to all of our parents who have been actively seeking pledges for our school; with your support we are almost at our goal of raising $30,000 for the Chromebook carts! Pledging will be open until Tuesday morning so we are hoping that we will be able to reach our goal - to benefit the students! DONATE HERE.
Congratulations to our students for achieving a 96% participation rate!! To celebrate this fantastic achievement, the whole school will have a Pajama Day on Tuesday, May 29th. Please make sure that all pj’s are school appropriate.
I want to also say a BIG thank you to all of you who have reached out to me to express your congratulations on my new role as the official Head of School. I want to let you know that I truly appreciate your support and confidence in me and how excited I am to be in this new role; I look forward to working with all of the teachers, staff, parents, and the new South Campus Principal as I lead and strengthen Pope Francis Global Academy. Please know that although my announcement stated that I will be the North Campus Principal in addition to Head of School over both campuses, I want to assure you that I will also be present at the South Campus as well so that I can be a part of both school communities as well as work collaboratively with the Principal who will be hired (with interviews beginning on Tuesday). As Head of School I will continue to work in partnership with all of you to strengthen our school and provide the best educational experience possible for your child(ren).
Just to give you a staffing update for next year, Ms. Calhoun (Music), Ms. DalSanto (North Science), Ms. Nitti (Art), and Ms. Wade (South 2nd) have chosen to leave at the end of this school year to pursue other educational opportunities. Mrs. Wagner (South Kindergarten) has decided to stay home with her new baby, and Ms. Vincent (South 7th) and Ms. Fuller (South Resource) will be moving out of state to explore the US and teach in warmer climates. We wish them all the best! Please know that I have already begun the interview process, and I have several highly qualified candidates.
As always, I look forward to seeing many of you over the next couple of weeks at the various end of year events as well as the State of the School Address on Thursday, May 31st at 7:00pm at the North Campus in the Mason Orchard Auditorium. It truly has been a wonderful year at Pope Francis Global Academy. Each moment we have shared as a family has made us stronger and closer as a community.
Save the date—next school year’s auction event - HOWL AT THE MOON - will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the St. Cornelius Pacocha Center. Want to be a part of planning the school’s largest fundraiser? Contact Darlene Duggan (firstname.lastname@example.org) for details.
