March 24, 2016 - Issue 003

Dear Parents, Parishioners, Alumni and Friends,

As the anticipation for the three most important days of our church year builds, and as we continue to prepare our minds, hearts and homes, we like to put ourselves in the right frame of mind so we feel fully present to absorb it all. Going into Easter break, we are happy to share with you some more exciting developments about our school - and we wish you joy during this most special season.
March 15 and the financial incentive for enrollment came and went and we are so pleased at how the registrations came flooding in!
We are happy to report that classrooms on each campus are filling up and waitlists will begin for some of the grade levels soon.  If you planned to registered but have not yet done so, please consider finishing the process soon.  Enrollment will have a significant impact on our planning for staffing needs.  More classrooms means more teachers to hire!
Please have a read through this week's edition of the Howler and enjoy a blessed Easter with your family!

Best regards and blessings!
Jodi Thyen
Director of Admissions and Advancement

Mr. O'Rourke has enjoyed the opportunity to get to know many parents and prospective parents at several Meet and Greets over the last couple of months. In April, we'll be showcasing the use of the types of technology we'll be using in the classrooms with an interactive, on-line Meet and Greet!  Look for information soon!
Both St. Cornelius and St. Pascal parishes will be offering Summer Programs this year. Please have a look and see if one of these great programs will suit your needs! Click the buttons below to link to their information.

  TASK FORCES ON TASK

For over a year now, 60+ parents and volunteers from each of our founding schools have been working together to tackle some of the main work of bringing 4 school communities together to ultimately form 1 school on 2 campuses.  There were 5 Task Forces formed which continue to work in their areas of specialty, meeting regularly to bring traditions, policies and cultures together, forming recommendations and helping to set new policies for the new school. The Task Forces are: Student Life, Transition Year, Athletics, Finance and Marketing/Communications.
We would like to thank all of those involved for their hard work on behalf of every family at our founding schools.

DINNER OUTING RAISES FUNDS AND FRIENDS

Thank you to our Transition Year Task Force for continuing to organize all sorts of fun opportunities for our founding families to get to know each other and enjoy time together.
On Thursday night, March 17, we flooded the Gale Street Inn with Pope Francis Global Academy families raising $550 which has been earmarked to help fund network and technology improvements that may be necessary at one or both campuses.
A big thank you to all of those who attended to support the cause and have some fun, and a HUGE thank you to the Gale Street Inn for hosting and for donating 15% of all sales from our families that night. Please dine with and support the Gale Street Inn when you can!
Everyone was busy enjoying the food and company so there are limited photos below!

BUILDING COMMUNITY AND PROMOTING OUR SCHOOL

Over 50 Pope Francis Global Academy supporters (parents, students, grandparents, etc.) came out to represent our school in the Northwest Side Irish Parade on March 13!  Despite the rain, we happily handed out postcards and candy to introduce and promote our school to the thousands of people who lined Northwest Highway for the annual neighborhood event.
Sipping on hot chocolate and coffee to keep warm, our folks thoroughly enjoyed the time together, getting to know one another through our shared goal of promoting the school!
Look for more opportunities to come out and meet other Pope Francis Global Academy families and to help us get the word out!
