“Whenever we encounter another person in love, we learn something new about God."
- Pope Francis
A great deal of information has been sent home today and more is on the way.
Please be sure to take the time to read the latest information on the Tax Credit Scholarships which was emailed to parents today and is listed below in the Thursday Folder section. Even if you you feel that your family will not qualify, you may have a neighbor or friend who always wanted a catholic education for their children but have stated they could not afford tuition. Please consider passing this information on to them. All students will first need to be accepted into our school prior to receiving the scholarship. Have them call Mrs. Thyen to set up a tour.
Additionally, coming home in the backpacks today is information on the tuition, fees and other commitments for the 2018-2019 school year. It is in the Thursday Folder of the youngest or only child in your family.
It's REALLY Winter Now
After being blessed with a beautiful and temperate fall, and a couple of false starts, it appears the cold weather is now here to stay. Please remind your kids that they'll need the full coverage of coats, hats, gloves, and maybe even boots as we want the kids going outdoors for recess as often as possible. Thanks for your help on that.

Our first ASK O'ROURKE question has been asked and answered. If you have a question that you think other parents might also have, please submit it HERE. Thank you!

STATE OF THE SCHOOL PRESENTATION
This program is in the works...look for a date in January to be set soon!
BIG, HUGE, GIANORMOUS THANK YOUS!
Big thanks go out to Ninja Sushi ati 3946 N Central who donated 38% of the dine-out night sales to Parents' Club. They were so happy to help out our school they will probably do it again. Please support their business!
And, another super huge thank you to John and Gabriella Panvino of Trattoria Porretta who donated $915.60 of their profits on Tuesday night to our Parents' Club!
The Archdiocese Office of Catholic Schools is continuing to prepare for the implementation of tax credit scholarships for K-12 students which, if you qualify, would apply for next school year. They have posted aFrequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document on their website and we encourage our parents to begin learning as much as possible about this opportunity. There is still much to be determined as the state finalizes the rules for SGOs (Scholarship Granting Organizations), student applications, etc. The best thing we can recommend for the moment is to try to read as much about it as possible as these decisions come down from the state.
We will inform you as we learn more.

Linda Garrett, our South Campus Administrative Assistant is someone you should know!
This is Linda's 12th year working within the Archdiocese. She loves working at Pope Francis and she is so glad that she came to our school almost 18 months ago for our very first year. Linda loves reading (this is good since she handles the South Campus library), traveling, and cooking. She has been married for 32 "wonderful years "to her husband Barry and they have a 24 year old son, Matthew (See her fellas in the photo!) Linda is a life-long resident of Chicago, growing up all along Irving Park Road from Ashland to Laramie. Stop in to visit Linda at the South Campus front office any time you need anything - or even if you don't need anything!
SCIENCE LAB MENAGERIE
Ms. DalSanto's science lab added another animal to the mix - Meet THOR! He was rescued from someone who was unable to care for him properly. He now enjoys his days swimming, basking on his log, and eating dried shrimp his favorite treat one day hoping for a tank mate. He likes to be held and to run around but watch out for his bite-He may mistake your fingers for lunch!
BACK TO THE EARTH Both Campuses are now composting with the lunch leftovers that are appropriate for such use! The worms seem to love it and the mixture will be used in the spring to enrich the dirt used to grow some plants on both campuses!
