CHRISTMAS PROGRAM THANKS Please forgive the delay, we wanted to include some photos from last night's Christmas Program at the North Campus, which was beautiful!
Big thanks to Ms. Calhoun for all of her hard work on this, and to all of our teaching staff who helped put together this beautiful program at both campuses this week. I hope that it put you all in the spirit of the season! Thank you also to our wonderful and talented students for working so hard and sharing their gifts with us!
TAX CREDIT SCHOLARSHIPS The Empower Illinois website is now up with all of the latest information about how to both apply for the scholarships and how to donate to the scholarship funds, receiving a 75% tax credit on that donation. Please go to the website to learn all you can.
The date they have currently set to begin accepting applications is now January 24.
INTENT TO RETURN As we head into enrollment season and anticipate higher than normal applications coming in due to the new Tax Credit Scholarships available, it is really important for us to get a good idea about how many spaces in each classroom we will have available to offer new families. To help us get a good handle on this, we are asking EVERYONE to complete the Intent to Return Form which can be foundHERE. This is especially important if you have a younger sibling beginning this upcoming year...we want to be sure to hold enough seats to accommodate all of our current families.
Mrs. Thyen sent home a survey earlier in the week, your answers to which will help us to clarify our mission and value statements, as well as inform the marketing messages she is developing. If you haven't already done so, please take a little time to do this now. Survey can be found HERE.
REGULAR MASS SCHEDULE FOR NEXT WEEK We will, in fact, keep to the normal Mass schedule for next week - Monday at North and Wednesday at South. There was a mistake in the calendar that went home earlier. I do apologize if this causes any inconvenience for anyone.
'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
On Thursday, Mr. Gioia - one of our talented school parents - will put his acting skills to work once again for the Annual Night Before Christmas presentation. He will begin at the South Campus in the morning and move to the North Campus in the afternoon. Thanks so much to Mr. Gioia!
AND, AGAIN....It's REALLY Winter Now I know we mentioned this last week but, although it has only gotten colder, you might be surprised that some of our Junior High students are still coming to school without proper coats and we need that to change. Yesterday a few boys were sent in for not having coats, but beginning next week, students who have made the decision to not bring a coat to school will be outside with all the rest for recess. Hopefully, if that happens, it won't happen again a second time. Even if you are dropping your kids right at the door of the school, please be sure they have full coverage - coat, hat, gloves, and maybe even boots - as we want the kids going outdoors for recess as often as possible. Thanks for your help on that.

MEET OUR TEACHERS - MRS. NICOLE DALSANTO
Ms. Dal Santo is the science teacher for 6-8th grade and 6th grade math at the North campus. She attended Dominican University where she recieved her Bachelor's in Biology and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. She has been teaching junior high for 10 years now and wouldn't trade it for the world!
When Ms. Dal Santo is not teaching she enjoys bowling, softball, reading (especially from Native American authors), relaxing with a cup of coffee and a Redbox movie, or traveling. Some of her favorite shows are the Walking Dead, Law and Order: SVU, and Riverdale.
She spends many weekends up in Lake Geneva, one of her favorite getaway spots. Ms. Dal Santo absolutely loves rollercoasters and has had some of her best times at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.
She is also an animal lover and can't help wanting to save them all! She has 4 cats - Puck, Bug, Callie, and Seymour - and 2 box turtles - Winky and Dobby. At school you can often see her carrying around our bearded dragon friends -Spartacus and Mare, or our new addition, water turtle, Thor. Aside from animals and school, she babysits 4 active little brothers ages 2-8 and is the 7th grade Cadette Girl Scout Leader (As seen above with some of her Girl Scouts at a pumpkin patch!)
Girl Scout Troop 20629 has been learning more about what makes each of us unique and embracing the differences between us with kindness. The girls were able to continue exploring more about this topic by going to see the movie WONDER, which is a wonderful story about a boy with facial/physical differences.
Last week, the girls were honored to welcome Clara Beatty as a guest speaker. Clara was born with a condition similar to Auggie’s character in the book and film WONDER. She has an incredible personal story about her struggles and triumphs. She is a clear example of determination, strength, and resiliency and proved that “girls can do anything!” Let’s all remember to continue to spread kindness to those around us!
Some of our 8th graders were able to help the Pre-K students to shop at the Secret Santa Workshop this week! It's always a great opportunity for both the littles and the bigs!
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM THANKS
A HUGE thank you goes out to our music teacher, Briana Calhoun, as well as all of our other teachers who worked so hard with their classes to prepare such a lovely Christmas Program! The art that Ms. Nitti created with her kids was beautiful!
Also, very special thanks goes out to both Mrs. Teubert and Mrs. Moroko for working with the 1st and 2nd graders to learn Silent Night in sign language! They volunteered their time and their help was instrumental! The kids were so very proud and it brought a tear to many an eye!
Our 1st and 2nd graders sang and signed Silent Night!
