“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Aesop
There are many expressions of gratitude that need to be acknowledged. A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered for our Open House as the day was a great success for Pope Francis Global Academy. We would also like to thank those who helped out with the Book Fair; the children had a wonderful time selecting texts from a variety of genres. On behalf of the students, thank you for the student appreciation lunch and the faculty and staff were very appreciative of the lunch provided for them this week. And thank you to those parents and extended family who judged Science Fair projects.
The most frequently cited positive in the last school survey was the sense of “community” at Pope Francis. Your collective willingness to step forward for Catholic Schools Week reflects the strength of our community.
Ask O’Rourke Question: I see that the Empower Illinois website lists both a "PFGA North" and a" PFGA South" as donation options for the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship. As a former board member of a Catholic school, I suspect that dividing the campuses this way was a subject of much discussion. For what it is worth, I believe that this is a mistake – contra to the "two campuses, one school" message you are trying to convey.
Answer: You are correct that listing separate campuses does not align with our model of "one school, two campuses." However, Empower Illinois was required to list our two separate campuses due to the way the Illinois State Board of Education now views schools with multiple locations, each campus as a distinct entity.
While we can't control distribution of the Tax Credit Scholarship awards, our internal financial aid review committee will look at the OVERALL picture to ensure equity among our families and campuses.
Thank you to all the families who have already re-enrolled for next school year. If you have not yet had a chance to do so, please act soon to assist us in our planning for the 2018-19 school year. RE-ENROLL HERE.
