NEWS FROM THE
Some of you might be wondering why you are getting a ringette email in June, but there are a few things that we need to start working on now in order to be prepared for the upcoming season.
One of those topics is PD (Professional Development). As was communicated last year, every coach is going to be responsible to get PD points in order to keep their qualifications valid. For a CI coach, you would need 20 points and for a CSI coach, you would need 10 points. These are due within 5 years of receiving your qualifications but for those coaches that had their qualifications prior to 2014, your deadline is December 31, 2018. You can find out more here.
There will be different ways to earn PD points, including sport specific and non-sport specific courses. I personally will be working on getting some sport specific courses set up for the beginning of the season.
My question is what does everyone want to learn more about?
Here are some topics that might be of interest:
Shooting & Deking
Passing and Receiving
Checking and Move it or Lose it
Please send me an email with what topics you might be interested in and if there are any additional topics you want to learn about. You can email me at SRRingetteCoaching@gmail.com
Also, if your association is interested in hosting one of these PD clinics, please email me with the potential space that is available and approximate costs. Assuming these clinics are 3 hours, we would need 2 hours of a training room and 1 hour of ice time.
I'm also looking for interested associations to host the CI and CSI clinics this upcoming year. If you are interested, please email me your approximate attendees and which clinic they need from your association and the potential location and approximate costs. For CSI, we need a room for a full day plus one hour of ice in the afternoon, and for CI we need a room for two full days with two hours of ice both in the afternoon.
There are also lots of good changes surrounding coaching for this upcoming season...but I'll leave you with that until August. Enjoy your summer!
