Payroll Updates

  • Effective immediately, the Payroll department will no longer key prior time for employees.  It will be the department's responsibility to key the time and have the time approved by the departmental approver.  This process will ensure the department's name and approval are listed for each transaction. Maintain the original timesheet in the department for auditing purposes.  The corrected time must be entered in IRIS and approved before it will be paid out on the next available pay period - dependent on the entry and approval date.  
  • The Payroll Schedule for July - December 2018 is accessible online at http://www.uthsc.edu/finance/payroll/documents/payroll-july-dec-2018.pdf.  It is important that you note these dates to ensure timely processing of time reporting.

May Campus-Wide Business Managers Meeting

The next scheduled Campus-Wide Business Managers Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 1:30 - 3:00 PM in GEB A104.  The agenda for this meeting and any related documents will be uploaded next week and accessible at http://www.uthsc.edu/finance/business-manager-meetings/index.phpIt should be noted that these documents may be updated up to the date of the meeting.  Please contact Jackie Cotton at 448-8470 or jmcclari@uthsc.edu if you have any questions.

Bursar's Office Move

As the renovation project begins for the Bursar's Office, staff has been moved temporarily from 103 Hyman to 120 Hyman (down the hall in the former Payroll Office).  You will need to visit this location if you have any transactions related to Petty Cash, Cash Deposits, Student Accounts,  and Student Loans.  Staff telephone numbers will remain the same.  If you have any questions, please contact the Bursar's Office at 448-5550.

May 11 Deadline for Submission for Job-Related Professional Privilege Tax Payment

Some University of Tennessee (UT) and UT Foundation (UTFI) faculty and staff hold professional licenses subject to the Tennessee professional privilege tax, a $400 tax imposed by the state each year on professionals holding active Tennessee licenses or registrations in certain professions.  If you are subject to this tax, UT/UTFI may be able to pay it on your behalf.  To be eligible, you must:
  1. Be a full-time regular employee of UT or UTFI as of April 1, 2018 (this does not include medical residents).
  2. Hold a professional license directly related to your UT/UTFI job duties.
  3. Submit an online request (https://ppt.tennessee.edu) no later than Friday, May 11, 2018.
There are NO EXCEPTIONS to these requirements.

Fiscal Year 2018 Processing Deadline Dates

Yes it is that time again!  The objective is to record all revenues, disbursements and encumbrances in the proper fiscal year.  You can access the document listing each of the year-end processing deadlines at http://www.uthsc.edu/finance/documents/fy2018-processing-dates.pdf.  Each item must be received in the appropriate office by close of business on the date listed to be posted in FY 2018.  It is imperative that you adhere to the published deadlines.  Your assistance in closing out the year will be appreciated.  Please contact the appropriate office listed if you have questions.

  • May 15 at 1:30 PM CT/2:30 PM ET:  Edward's Supply (electrical supplies) [a certified Tennessee diversity business enterprise]
  • May 22 at 9:00 AM CT/10:00 AM ET:  Staples (office supplies)
  • May 24 at 9:00 AM CT/10:00 AM ET and 1:30 PM CT/2:30 PM ET:  McKesson (medical and related supplies).
