FIRST SALES IN EUROPE

First-sales value in January–October 2016 increased in Denmark, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, and the UK.
First-sales volume contracted in October 2016 in nine of the reporting countries. Read.

BELGIUM – RAY and GURNARD: first-sales prices reached 2,35 EUR/kg (+13%) and 0,98 EUR/kg (–3%), respectively, relative to January–October 2015. Read.

GLOBAL SUPPLY

EU fisheries ministers have agreed on the 2017 catch limits for the main commercial fish stocks in the Atlantic, the North Sea, as well as for international fisheries in which EU vessels participate. Read.

HERRING PRESERVED IN GLASS JARS IN SWEDEN

Sweden manufactures herring preserved in glass jars mostly for the domestic market (82% of total sales). The main export markets are Finland, Denmark, and Germany. Read.

NORWAY LOBSTER IN THE EU

The EU fleet accounts for the absolute majority of catches and landings of Norway lobster and mainly supplies the EU consumer market which is the largest end-market globally. Read.

CONSUMPTION

Fresh common carp: retail prices for household consumption decreased in Germany and increased in Poland. They averaged 6,02 EUR/kg and 4,34 EUR/kg, respectively, in January-September 2016. Read.

MACROECONOMIC CONTEXT

Fish and seafood prices were stable in November 2016, compared with previous month. They increased slightly (+0,2%) since the beginning of the year. Read.
