Dear <<First Name>>,

Welcome to 2017!! On behalf of your Board of Directors, we would like to thank each and every one of you for being a member who believes in our mission and purpose of this Chamber of Commerce.

2016 was a year in which our economy improved with many economic indicators on the rise! That is fantastic news for all of us in business! Let's keep supporting each other in that vein by supporting each other's businesses, introducing potential new members to our Chamber and be advocates for our community.

In this new year, the news tells us that there is a rising sentiment to roll back GLBT rights at the National and possibly at the State Level. We will do our best to keep you updated and let you know how you as a Chamber member can advocate for this community. Same sex marriage, adoption rights and so many other rights deserve to stay on the books and not be taken away from millions of people.

We are lucky to live in Tucson, a city that prides itself on being one of the first cities that provided protection to domestic partners in Arizona. In good news, the Tucson Commission on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Issues will remain as a separate Commission due in part to some impassioned speakers asking that the Mayor and City Council keep it that way. The Commission's mission is to be the champion for equality and the well‐being of all Tucsonans. It has had significant successes in the past, and we look forward to the volunteer commissioners continuing to be our voice in the local political arena. We as Tucsonans are glad they are there for us!

Remember that you can always get more involved in the Chamber! If you have an idea or an event you want to share or a question you want to ask, you can post it in the Chamber's 411 Group on Facebook. (All members should have access to that group. Let us know if you don't.)

If you're a member, consider adding a Hot Deal or Event to the Chamber website. Let the community know how to connect with you! And of course we are back to our regular monthly events schedule, so we look forward to seeing you at this month's Breakfast and Out & About

Together we are stronger!

Liane Wong
