CFUW St. Catharines Raises $21,000
to Support Women in Higher Education

"Canadian Federation of University Women St. Catharines has raised more than $21,000 for young women’s scholarships through its 100th anniversary campaign.

CFUW St. Catharines is a voluntary non-profit aiming to promote and encourage the higher education of women. There are about 100 clubs across Canada that are members of CFUW National.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s fundraiser was a virtual garden tour in which seven homeowners gave tours of their gardens.

With the help of Niagara College, the tours were filmed and streamed on YouTube. More than 850 people purchased tickets for the online event."

  • WRITE A LETTER: Members of University Women Helping Afghan Women have prepared a template letter for Club Presidents to send to their Members of Parliament urging immediate protection and resettlement of vulnerable Afghans amid the deteriorating human rights situation in Afghanistan. Click here to download the letter file in Word.
  • SIGN A LETTER: Consider signing this open letter, as an individual, from the Canadian Campaign for Afghan Peace in support of actions Canada could take to support Afghans and Afghanistan. Click here to sign the letter & email Canadian decision-makers.
  • Climate solutions: Educating girls is a climate solution! This solution sits sixth on the list of climate solutions from Project Drawdown, a nonprofit that seeks to help the world reach “Drawdown” -- the future point in time when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline. Seventh on the list just beneath the education of girls come issues of family planning. When combined, these initiatives move to first place in the fight against climate change. To learn more, take a look at this fact sheet prepared by CFUW Stratford’s Climate Working Group.
