CFUW Membership Committee - Spring Dialogues

The VP Membership, Lynne Kent, and Membership Committee invite club presidents, club communication & membership chairs from across Canada to join us for conversations for connecting and sharing via Zoom.

Following the collaborative Communications Committee and Membership Committee webinar on: “Marketing and Recruitment Strategies” in February, the Membership Committee is hosting our spring dialogues this year as a follow-up to this workshop.
We invite you to come together with colleagues from across the country to consider the following 3 questions:
  • What has been your most successful message that has garnered community attention for your club?
  • What has been your most effective tool for getting recognized and appreciated for the work you do?
  • What have your challenges been and what do you want to change/build on?
Come join us in a lively chat! Please select the dates & times (the ones highlighted in blue) that work best for you to join the meeting: click here. When you are prompted to fill out your contact information, please provide your club name under "postal address."

We look forward to engaging with you again and learning of ways CFUW national can help you to be the best you can be.

Warm regards,

Lynne Kent,
CFUW VP Membership

Expression of Interest Form 2022-2024

We encourage all CFUW members who may be interested in joining a National Committee to read the job descriptions for the various committees and submit the Expression of Interest form to the National Office. If current Chairs and Committee members wish to continue, they should indicate that interest by also submitting the Expression of Interest form. This can also be done by a current Committee Chair on behalf of her committee members who wish to continue. Notice that sub-committees are on this list as well. CFUW benefits from the work of all members who dedicate many hours of volunteer commitment, and our organization remains strong because of our volunteers.

We welcome expression of interest for these positions (filling out this form and submitting it constitutes an expression of interest). The terms of reference for the Standing and Special Committees may be found in the Administrative Procedures Manual, Volume 2 available on the Members Only site. Please choose to Chair one Committee and/or be a member of two Committees maximum. Please contact Robin Jackson, Executive Director execdir@cfuw-fcfdu.ca should you wish any additional information.

CFUW Young Women's Online Network Mentoring Initiative
CALL FOR MENTORS!
CFUW is proud to announce the launch of the Young Women's Online Network Mentorship Initiative to empower young women (ages 20-40) in the workforce. We are seeking CFUW members who are enthusiastic about uplifting the next generation of young women to join this initiative as mentors. We encourage working women, retired women, and women from diverse disciplines, industries and occupations to sign-up!

The Young Women’s Online Network (YWON) will encourage young women (ages 20-40) to join the Network, and a CFUW club near them. As part of the YWON pilot project, the Network will offer an Advocacy Circle, Mentorship Program and various social events.

"The Power of Women Working Together" is at the heart of this project. If you are interested in enhancing your leadership and communication skills, while gaining intrinsic satisfaction by helping young women develop their potential, being a mentor is for you! Please complete the Mentor application by Friday, May 6th, 2022.

Our One Hundred Years: The Canadian Federation of University Women

By Dianne Dodd

More than one hundred years in the life of a vibrant organization.

To celebrate CFUW’s centenary, Dr. Dianne Dodd was engaged to write a history of the Federation. This engaging study of a still active women's organization is more than a centennial history to make its members proud. It also provides a lively exploration of a unique organization founded by early women leaders in higher education who offered friendship, community engagement, and lifelong learning. With a leadership of exceptional women, the organization played a largely overlooked role in the women's movement by supporting education and the arts, encouraging young women to pursue higher education and scholarships, and through its advocacy initiatives helped to build the Canadian nation.

Requesting Clubs Register Information on their Scholarships, Community and International Donations

In preparation for the annual tally of the total amount of scholarships, fellowships, awards, community and international outreach donations provided by Clubs and the Charitable Trust, we are asking you to input your Club's total scholarships and donations made between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 on the cfuwmembership.org website by May 20, 2022

A guide on how to submit your 2021 Club education awards and donations is available at this link here

If you have any questions or require your Club's Username/Password, please contact Betty Dunlop, CFUW Fellowships Program Manager, at fellowships@cfuw-fcfdu.ca.

While CFUW publicizes the amount it awards for education, we know that many Clubs make donations to their communities and to some activities and organizations internationally. We suspect that these amounts are quite significant and we would like to give credit to those Clubs and publicize the total amounts given on the community and international levels. In this respect, there are two sections on the CFUW membership website cfuwmembership.org: one is called Community Outreach Donations and the other is International Outreach Donations. We are asking you to input your Club’s individual Community Outreach Donations as well as your International Outreach Donations made between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 on the website by May 20, 2022.

If you need assistance in entering your data, please contact Betty Dunlop at fellowships@cfuw-fcfdu.ca
