Member Profile - The Perfect Wedding Guide
After getting “burned out” in the real estate industry (where he’d been since the age of 18), Jeremy Bowman wanted to try something new. His sister owned a license for the Perfect Wedding Guide, and she recommended he start one in Charlotte.
Despite his experience in real estate, Jeremy liked the idea of serving the white-hot, “recession-resistant” field of weddings. Knowing many small businesses fail due to a lack of marketing, he saw an opportunity to help struggling area vendors put together a marketing package all in one place.
Jeremy has been publishing the Perfect Wedding Guide in Charlotte for 10 years. It covers everything from catering, venues, and floral options to music, invitations, and honeymoons for weddings and other events. It’s available at jewelry stores, bridal boutiques, and wedding venues, and online (www.perfectweddingguide.com/). His marketing “package” includes advertising, local events, emails and a database worth it’s weight in gold.
Bowman was referred to Premier Barter Exchange by a reciprocal barter exchange in St. Louis, MO. It was a way to connect with people that Bowman would never otherwise meet. He’s always recognized the value of barter exchanges like PBE.
Jeremy uses his considerable barter dollar balance for travel and entertainment, but also:
to purchase promotional offers and door prizes (like restaurant gift certificates, weekends in Hilton Head, and spa packages) for trade shows and networking events.
to buy $20,000 in dental services for his employees.
With a philosophy of being “one of those good karma people,” he likes using barter for giveaways, rewards, and benefits. It sounds like one red-hot way to run a business.
