SportsAid Wheelchair Basketball Competition

SportsAid hosted its #SupportTheNext Wheelchair Basketball tournament last week at London 2012’s Copper Box Arena! Many corporate teams took part including Zurich, CGI, Get Living London and of course GLL had two teams entered.

Each corporate team received tips and guidance from GB players before the tournament kicked off. A coach was assigned to each team everyone showed big improvements throughout the day. GSF and SportsAid supported athlete Fi Tillman was one of the coaches, in addition to many London Titans players who are supported by the foundation.

At lunchtime there was an exhibition game between GB and London Titans players; a great showcase of the sport. The final of the tournament was a competitive affair, with both GLL teams wanting the bragging rights. It came down to the wire and the GLL Sport & Community team won by one basket. MVP was also awards to a GLL player, the GSF Officer, Garnet Mackinder.

All the money raised from the competition was donated to SportsAid. All participants had a fantastic day learning a new sport and  team building with their work colleagues in a competitive environment. SportsAid hopes to grow is tournament year on year aiming for 12-15 teams next year. Get involved!
