CWR Contracting's Grand Opening  
CWR Contracting, Inc. recently opened its state-of-the-art asphalting plant and mix design lab in Sumter County. The plant's silos can make up to 400 tons of asphalt per hour and store up to 1,200 tons. The plant can run up to 50% recycled asphalt and is structured to mainly utilize electric heat. CWR Contracting, Inc. has been in the business of building roads since 1976 and has grown to employ more than 1,200 skilled workers. Downtown Wildwood Revitalization Project Moves Forward
A nearly $8-million dollar revitalization plan for downtown Wildwood was presented to Wildwood's City Commission. The plan includes a four-story, 126-space parking garage. The plan also includes the development of 8,000 square feet of commercial space across from city hall, named "The Railyard." The project will have a railroad theme to keep to Wildwood's rich railroad history.

OSHA Expected to Establish Heat-Specific Standards by 2023
In the spring of 2022, OSHA released a National Emphasis Program (NEP) on Heat Exposure.  The agency is utilizing data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics to assess high incidence rates of heat-related illnesses and death.  Heat exposure standards are expected in 2023 and employers are encouraged to be prepared for implementation and the likelihood of increased inspections.

Sumter County Farm City Event
Another successful Farm City event was held this year. The event had over 60 people attend. Presentations were made by UF-IFAS-Extention and Flowerwood Nursery, which hosted the event. Pictured above is Glenn Ponder, Manager of Flowerwood Nursery, as he answers participant's questions. A guided tour of the nursery's operations and a complimentary lunch was also provided.
