The Fastest-growing MSA in the Nation…Again!

Sumter County is poised for industrial growth based on the latest data from the Census Bureau. The Villages MSA ranked as the fastest growing MSA in the country for the fourth year in a row and Sumter County ranked as the seventh fastest-growing county in the nation. This continued population growth helps sustain and grow existing businesses while also encouraging new businesses in the county. With ample industrial land available at reasonable prices, businesses can capitalize on the pro-business environment in Sumter County to expand or relocate their operations.

Growth pushes road projects into high gear

CR 219 construction improvements recently completed. Improvements include a new left turn lane on to SR 44 and a new turn lane into the Pike 75 Industrial Park. Click through to read about other road projects in the county.

Sumter County Economic Development hosted the first Manufacturers’ Roundtable Luncheon this month to discuss industry trends in the manufacturing and logistics sectors. Local manufacturers and logistics companies discussed topics such as workforce, best practices, and resources available to businesses through CareerSource Central Florida, the Small Business Development Center, and the Mid-Florida Regional Manufacturers Association.

During Career Conextions, business owners provide valuable work experience and mentorship, while CareerSource Central Florida pays the wages and insurance. This rewarding opportunity helps young career seekers gain critical skills, while also building the future talent pipeline in Central Florida.
