Hello Pemetic Families,

It has been an exciting week and I do not think it will be slowing down. I have started to go into classrooms, meet all the staff and get to know your children. I am learning names and people have been very patient with me. (Several students were able to help me find rooms when I got lost, and several have even visited me in my office for a discussion on behavior and expectations.)

I have tied shoes, zipped coats, covered recess and worked on math with my new 7th grade math buddies. I played “ I’m going on a trip” with the 8th grade during recess, attended an art class and learned how to send a Google Messenger should I ever need to.

I have gotten a “recess coat” which really makes a difference in keeping me warm. I ask that all students dress warmly as we go outside if the temperature and windchill are above 10 degrees.

We continue to follow the rules regarding masking in school and follow the COVID protocols.

I ask that parents and those visiting a sporting event watch their speed on Maple Ave. There are children playing at times and I want everyone to be safe.

We know that COVID has disrupted many families and should anyone need food (even for the weekend) or clothing for their children, please contact Carolyn Todd or Dencie McEnroe.

We are also in need of  ed techs, substitute teachers and bus drivers.  This is the time to get trained and apply if you have ever been tempted!!

My door is always open to parents, staff and students for whatever they may need. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Have a great week.

Michele Gurtler

In correlation with the other schools in the district and guidance from Mr. Z regarding weather and outside recess, if the weather is less than 10 degrees, with windchill, children will NOT be going outside for recess.

Children in grades K-3 must be appropriately dressed in order to go outside in cold weather.  If the teacher decides a student is not, the student must stay inside. There will be an adult to supervise during this time. Grade 4-8 students will all be going outside regardless so they need to be prepared.

It would be very helpful if you sent an extra set of mittens and an extra hat for your child to store in your child’s locker just in case.  Because of COVID, we do not have extra hats and mittens to give out to students this year.

Hi Families,

We will resume Pool Testing on Monday, January 31st.

If your child has not had the required immunizations for public schools then they cannot return to school until a doctors note is provided to me with a plan in place to receive the necessary vaccine(s).

As always, keep your child home if they are experiencing cold symptoms and have them tested if appropriate.  Anyone who is COVID positive the guidance has changed to a 5 day quarantine.  Please let the school nurse know if someone has tested positive using a home test.

-Brittany, School Nurse

Please remember to let the office know if your child(ren) will be absent, tardy or dismissed early. When calling the school, please call 207-244-5502.  If you have a new telephone number, could you let us know so that we can update our files. Thank you!
