Hello Pemetic Families,

What a busy week we had! The K-1 grades went bowling, the 3rd grade made books about animals and displayed them in the library, and I taught the small kids how to play “7-Up” in the lunchroom. I got to ride in the front of the fire truck while checking out our parking ( all of our spots are good to park in) and it was good to spend some time with Lisa the bus driver. Everyday brings something new! A big shout out to Dencie and Renee, who help keep me on track and things running smoothly!

I have asked the students to be thoughtful about their clothing choices. No guns, bullets or weapons please. Remember that we have 4 year olds in the building and the big kids set the example. I want school to be a safe place for all. I have included a copy of the dress code:

DRESS CODE

The tone or atmosphere of a school is affected by the overall appearance of the student body; therefore, all pupils should be neat, clean, and appropriately clothed at all times.  Any piece of clothing or accessory, which has writing or pictures on it of a suggestive or offensive nature, including advertisement of any drug, tobacco, or alcohol product, is not considered appropriate school dress.  Students are expected to wear appropriate clothing to extra-curricular activities, field trips, and any school sponsored events, keeping in mind that they are representing their school and their community.  Students are invited to enjoy wearing caps and hats outside of the building only.

Summer School:

Hello AOS 91 Families,

Here is the link for the AOS 91 Summer School registration form. Embedded in the form you will see the parent letter that outlines the programming for students entering 1st-5th grade in the fall. It also provides information for students who participate in ESY (extended school year) through special education. Information for grade 5-8 students is shared in this form, but students won't register for these opportunities until May.

If you are interested in your child participating in AOS 91 Summer School, please register by Friday, April 15th. Confirmation emails will be sent to families on Monday, April 25th.

As to my egg Eddie, I have big hopes for this upcoming week and hope to see some hatching.

I am talking with the other principals about putting together a dance for the 7th & 8th graders as things start to open up. Stay tuned for more information.

Fun Friday: Next Friday the 15th we will celebrate our military folk by wearing purple. Thank you to all who serve!!

The Learning Lab is up and running! Monday-Friday from 7:30-8:00 am in Kim Schroeder’s room. Any students grades 4-8 needing extra help are welcome to attend. They just need to come in the front door and sign in.

COVID protocols: We follow the guidelines set by the district, as we are all in this together. If things change, as soon as we know, we will get that information out to parents and students.  If you are not in pool testing, but would like to be, please reach out to Nurse Brittany.

My door is always open to parents, staff and students for whatever they may need. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Have a great week,

Michele Gurtler

There’s a tradition in the military referring to the color purple; one use of the color involves the phrase “purple suit” which can refer to a military activity or organization that includes civilians and/or multiple branches of the military.

In the context of April 15th, this tradition continues. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported. All the service colors are represented including Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue; said to combine for the mutual benefit of all into the color purple.

Please show your support for the MILITARY FAMILIES HERE AT PEMETIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND WEAR PURPLE ON FRIDAY, APRIL 15TH.

THANK YOU TO OUR SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES !

Hi Families,

Please remember to have your child’s doctors office fax me any well-child checks being done so I can update medical charts. You should have received a letter if your child needs immunizations for the upcoming year.  No student can attend schools until immunization requirements are met.  If you have any questions about immunizations please call or email me.  Also a reminder that a recent physical is required for any student that wants to participate in extracurricular activities. I need a copy of this in order for them to be able to participate.   Doctor’s offices are booking fast so making an appointment well in advance is ideal.

As always, call me with any questions/concerns.

Please be aware that the menus are planned ahead, but like everywhere, there are unexpected shortages and supply issues that interfere with best laid plans.

We appreciate your understanding that meals may unexpectedly change and apologize for any inconvenience.

Maybe during these uncertain times, packing some extra, healthy snacks may help with an unanticipated change in lunch.
