Tylla Carlisle has been painting since she was six years old. For the artist, the urge to express creatively has innate origins. Every human is born with this momentum and are on this physical plane to find our particular way of creating that supports our highest good as individuals and as a collective. Over the course of her lifetime (51 years) she has studied 2-D and 3-D art, dance, theater, and music. Tylla was trained in “Observational/Figurative” painting under the guidance of Eve Mansdorf at Indiana University and continued her education in the MFA program at Western Michigan University under the teachings of Lou Rizzolo. Her influences, to name just a few, include Nathan Oliveira, Mark Rothko, Odd Nerdrum, Lucian Freud, and her deep connection with nature.
