Thursdays are for Guest Devotionals and todays comes from a new writer.  David Duer sent me this several weeks ago and he started with the disclaimer, “I am not a writer.”  Well, David, I thought you did an excellent job.  Thank you for sending it.  He has entitled this, “Keep it Simple.”  Thanks, David!

Growing up I remember my grandmother worked in a fiberglass factory. She worked hard for her money and when she would spend her money, she wanted the absolute best quality that she could afford.

She never wanted all the “bells and whistles”. She would say that’s just something extra that could go wrong. She simply wanted a good product that would perform well.

Years later the Honda car company ran an advertising campaign that would remind me of my grandmother. Their slogan was “Honda, we make it simple.”

I think about that often and in many ways, I guess I’m similar to my grandmother and Honda. I don’t necessarily like a lot of “fluff.” I like to keep things simple and I want them to work.

I suppose that is why my favorite bible verses are:

“Pray constantly” I Thess. 5:17. I think God wants us to talk to him about ALL aspects of our lives.

“Rejoice always” I Thess. 5:16. Give thanks to God in everything. It just makes life better!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; Think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right path.” Prov. 3: 5-6 Why do we try to do what we THINK is right when we can turn to God who KNOWS what is right?

“And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matt. 28:20b How comforting it is to know that God, our creator, is with us in every season of our life!

That’s pretty simple and it will definitely work!
