We all had games that we liked to play when we were kids. One of our favorites was hide-n-go-seek. The rules are simple. You determine what the boundaries will be, and you cannot venture outside of those landmarks to hide. Other than that, just try to keep from being seen by whoever is “it.”
It seems as though many people in the world think that they can hide from God. Somehow, He doesn’t see them or isn’t paying any attention to them. Or, they think they have slipped outside of His boundaries, and He will never come looking for them.
God pursues mankind because He wants to have a relationship with us. He wants to forgive us for our sin. He wants to restore us into a right relationship. And He wants to help us have a full and meaningful life.
Everything is going to stand before God one day. The order will be given, “okay, everyone, come out. The game is over.” It would be wise to kneel at His feet now in humble repentance and to seek the forgiveness that He freely offers.
Here is a word from the Word:
“If anyone does not repent, God will sharpen His sword; He has strung His bow and made it ready.” (Psalm 7:12)
“Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. If I live at the eastern horizon or settle at the western limits, even there Your hand will lead me; Your right hand will hold on to me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me, and the light around me will be night”— even the darkness is not dark to You. The night shines like the day; darkness and light are alike to You.” (Psalm 139:7-12)
