We were glad to have Miranda and Kimberly from Partnership for Substance Free Youth of Buncombe County visiting our meeting!
  • We will have an evening meeting on Thursday, May 12 at 5:30.  We'll meet at TGIFridays and sit outside on their patio.    Mark your calendars and think about who you could bring as a guest.  We'll work on planning out some service projects for the spring/summer.
  • We will have an evening meeting at Transformation Village on June 7th at 5:30-7:00.  We will be giving a check to them for a playground.  We'll also be giving out 5 Key Club Scholarships and inducting Jeff Pearsall as a new member.   Plan to come and bring a guest who might want to know more about what our club does.
We lost another one of our greatest generation, Dale Wykoff.  Dale was a longtime member of our club until his health prevented him from coming.  He was never without his camera at our meetings and other Kiwanis events.  I'm sure he's having quite a reunion with Tony, Homer, Ernie and other former Kiwanians!   Read about his extraordinary military service in his obituary here.

Our speaker was Morgan Bradley with WNC Bridge Foundation, a community-based charitable organization that works to provide funding to support and assist people facing health challenges throughout the 18 counties of WNC. Their primary goal is to connect our communities to a healthier future and to create lasting change through local partnerships.  There are five Community Initiatives, including: the Rathbun House, Children's Services Fund, You're Special Fund, WNC Greatest Needs Fund, and WNC Health Scholarships. In 2021 alone, Rathbun House accommodated 951 guests along with 18 MAHEC Interns. WNC Bridge served 686 community members in need through Children's Services, You're Special, and WNC Greatest Needs, which since its inception, provided 298 WNC High School Seniors with Health Scholarships.
