Bryce - October 23rd
We did a "drive by" and presented JoAnn Roberson with her 50 year pin. In 1970, JoAnn began playing the piano and was active with our club, but women could not become Kiwanis members until 1987. She was our club's first woman president in 1998-99. Congratulations JoAnn!
On October 24th we will be working with other Division 1 clubs to do some landscaping around the new Kiwanis playground at Eliada Home. They will have some trees and shrubs that will need to be planted.  Come when you can between 10-4 and help us and also enjoy some time of fellowship.  The corn maze is going on, so there will be a food truck available for lunch.
Our race is now postponed until May 16, 2021. We have come to realize how difficult it is going to be to implement all of the COVID-19 safety measures that the Biltmore Estate and Buncombe County will require, while still providing an enjoyable experience to all of our runners.  It is now really important to get sponsors for next year's race since this is our main fundraiser for our charities budget.

We would like to continue working with the kids at Rock Hill Baptist in the fall.  We are looking for a volunteer to help us teach the children (outside and socially distanced) how to fly the drones. If you know anyone who might be able to help, let us know.  If you are on Facebook, please share our post about this.

For our program, Jensen Gelfond shared pictures and told us about the hiking trip he and Beth took on the John Muir trail for their honeymoon.  For 18 days they hiked 150 miles on the south part of the 220 mile trail, finishing by climbing up 3,000 feet to the top of Mt. Whitney (elevation 14,500). They hiked 6-11 miles each day, carrying heavy packs with all their gear and food.  It was quite an accomplishment!  Check out a few of the  pictures below!
