Amy Euler - May 1st
We will be having an in person meeting on Thursday, May 20th from 5-6:30 at Transformation Village!  We would like for each member to bring at least one guest who might be interested in learning more about Kiwanis. We are looking to grow our membership!   We will be sharing about all of the projects and groups we support, giving out Key Club Scholarships and offering tours of Transformation Village. There will be safety precautions in place.   Begin thinking about people that you can invite!  More details to come.
We will be giving out the Peggy Kirkpatrick Memorial Kiwanis Scholarship and Tony Seker Memorial Kiwanis Scholarship to 2 students from Enka and Reynolds High School at our meeting on May 20th.  We hope to have members from both Peggy's and Tony's family there!

The club has not been meeting this year due to COVID restrictions at their school, but the officers have been active.  Just last week they did a canned food drive that attracted an impressive amount of attention and participation.  This benefited Manna Food Bank and gathered about 500 items total!  They are starting to put together plans for the Fall,  hoping things will be back to normal by next school year.

We have created Team Kiwanis, with a goal of raising $250 to help Eblen Charities.  Click the link below to join our team or donate and then, if you are able, join us virtually anytime between May 8th-15th to walk, run or roll for Eblen Charities!  Be sure and share the link with your friends who may like to donate or join our team!  We've exceeded met our goal, and are now seeing how much more we can raise!  Elaine and Tom's daughter, Rebekah, who lives in Korea, donated and joined our team!

Candace Poolton, Volunteer and Community Outreach Coordinator of the Friends of the WNC Nature Center, was our speaker.  The WNC Nature Center connects people with the animals and plants of the Southern Appalachian Mountain region by inspiring appreciation, nurturing understanding, and advancing conservation of the region’s rich biodiversity.

Today, the Nature Center is one of the primary facilities in Western North Carolina offering school children and adults opportunities to learn about and develop an understanding of their responsibility for this area’s native wildlife and habitats. The Nature Center is home to sixty species of wild and domestic animals and hundreds of species of plants, all representative of this unique bioregion, the Southern Appalachians.
