  • We had 8 members attend our virtual Kiwanis meeting.  If you would like help getting on Zoom or calling in,  please reply to this email and someone will be glad to talk you through it!  I hope you will plan on joining us next Tuesday, August 11.  On Monday, I will send you a reminder with a link to join on your computer or tablet, or a phone number to call.  This is a great way to catch up with everyone and see how we're all doing.  We'll also have a speaker at each virtual meeting. We will continue this on a weekly basis until we are able to meet again at St. Mark's.
  • You should have received your Q4 dues invoice from Scott Rogers.  If you have any questions please contact him   Please mail checks to Ashley at First Bank.  You can also pay online by going to our website and clicking on the donate button about halfway down.  Please let Ashley know so she can move the money into dues.

We would like to continue working with the kids at Rock Hill Baptist in the fall.  We are looking for a volunteer to help us teach the children (outside and socially distanced) how to fly the drones. If you know anyone who might be able to help, let us know.  If you are on Facebook, please share our post about this.

It's official!  Our race has been postponed to October 4th, 2020.   We have $3750 in sponsors so far, but will now have time to try and get more.
We recently had a speaker from Evergreen Charter School as a speaker. She has shared with us a hands on project that might be of interest to some of our members over the summer. Evergreen has a number of gardens that are in need of weeding and clearing out. This could be done within the social distancing guidelines, with masks worn. If anyone is interested, please contact Susan Haldane,
and she can discuss the project in more detail.

Our speaker was Olivia Onderlinde, Corporate Engagement Manager for MANNA Food bank.  They  have served Western North Carolina since 1983 and are an accredited member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization.  In 2018/2019 MANNA distributed 19.8 million pounds of food through some 200+ community-based food assistance agencies in 16 Western North Carolina counties.  They could not exist without the support of volunteers and donors. In 2018/2019, 6,992 volunteers donated 73,000+ hours and there were $1.7 million in donations from individual donors.
The MANNA Packs for Kids program provides emergency food assistance to public school students throughout all 16 counties in WNC who receive free school meals.  MANNA works closely with WNC schools to identify at-risk student populations.  In 2018/2019 they provided an average of 5,111 MANNA Packs every week of the school year to children across WNC.  Since Covid began in March, over 100,000 people have received 6 million pounds of food and their help line has helped over 3,000 households.
