  • We had 10 members at our virtual meeting today.
  • We have changed a few of our December projects to keep everyone safe.  See details below.
  • You should have received your Quarter 1 dues.  Please mail them to Ashley at First Bank.
  • Our own JoAnn Morgan was featured in an article in the Citizen-Times last week about the all women city council.  Did you know JoAnn was on city Council in the 1970s?  You can read the article here
  •  Be sure to read the Skywanian each week to keep up to date and know when we will have our next in person meeting or service project!  Check out a calendar here with dates to remember!
Gene Rainey - November 28th
In order to keep everyone safe this year the board had to think outside the box and be creative with our shopping spree.  The club will be providing the women and children at Transformation Village a Chick Fil A Lunch on December 5th.  We will also give each child an amount to spend on Amazon.  They will put their item on a wish list and then our club will order all of the gifts in time to arrive by Christmas.  Thanks to our newest member, Beverly, for helping to coordinate this with the kids and moms at Transformation Village.
We're going to sort and deliver books to help United Way with their holiday book drive.  Barnes and Noble will be collecting books that people purchase to give, then we will collect, sort and deliver to the schools and other agencies.  We hope to have a date for a socially distanced "sorting party" soon, or will let you know when you can pick up some boxes to sort.
Our race is now postponed until May 16, 2021. We have come to realize how difficult it is going to be to implement all of the COVID-19 safety measures that the Biltmore Estate and Buncombe County will require, while still providing an enjoyable experience to all of our runners.  It is now really important to get sponsors for next year's race since this is our main fundraiser for our charities budget. Let Ashley or Elaine know if you know of any potential sponsors that we should approach.  We have someone who will do it for you, or you can  Click here to print a copy of our sponsorship packet to give someone.
Scott Hicks shared about the trip to Peru that he took in October 2019 to visit the family of his great grandfather. They visited Lima, Arequipa, Cusco and Scared Valley.
December 1 - Matt Raker, Executive Director of Mountain Bizworks, a successful nonprofit involved in business planning, coaching, and financing in Western North Carolina will speak on Mountain Bizworks ongoing activities and how they have adjusted their service delivery due to the Covid virus.
December 8 - Jim Blanton, Executive Director of the Asheville and Buncombe County Public  Library System will give an update on the wide variety of programs and services available at the library and the new ways his staff has adapted to serving patrons as a result of Covid.
December 15 - Asheville Kiwanis Club Christmas Party. We will have our party on Zoom instead of in person.  There will be music and other surprises.  Please try to come celebrate with us!
