We will be taking some moms and children from Transformation Village shopping at Wal Mart on Saturday, December 5th at 11:00.  We'll have safety measures in place.  Save the date and plan to join us!
We will be partnering with First Bank and Key Clubs to help at the toy store this year.  Our dates are Monday December 14th 1:30-5:30 and Wednesday December 16th 9:45-1:45. Due to Covid, they are only allowing 9 people to help each day.  We still have several spots to fill.  Please let Elaine or Ashley know as soon as possible if you are able to help out on one of those days.
We're going to sort and deliver books to help United Way with their holiday book drive.  Barnes and Noble will be collecting books that people purchase to give, then we will collect, sort and deliver to the schools and other agencies.  We will have a date for a socially distanced "sorting party" soon.
Our race is now postponed until May 16, 2021. We have come to realize how difficult it is going to be to implement all of the COVID-19 safety measures that the Biltmore Estate and Buncombe County will require, while still providing an enjoyable experience to all of our runners.  It is now really important to get sponsors for next year's race since this is our main fundraiser for our charities budget. Let Ashley or Elaine know if you know of any potential sponsors that we should approach.  We have someone who will do it for you, or you can  Click here to print a copy of our sponsorship packet to give someone.
James E. Brewer, Immediate Past  President of the Hendersonville Kiwanis Club, spoke to us about the changes his club made to help attract new members as well as encourage those members who were not active to return to meetings.  When looking at the club membership, James realized that many members sent in their dues every quarter but were not active.  The club voted to try a new approach by having a noon meeting every other week and an evening meeting on opposite weeks.  By doing this, the club still met every week on the same day, but at 2 different times, to try to help more people be able to attend. Members could attend any, or all of the meetings each month.  Their meeting location was torn down, so they needed to find a new place to meet.   Hendersonville Country Club was chosen, which helped them become more visible to the public.  Their dues structure was changed to "pay as you eat" instead of members being charged for a meal if they did not attend a meeting. They found that although change is difficult, sometimes it must happen in order to keep up with the times we are living in.
