Victoria “Vic” Isley, the new president and CEO of Explore Asheville  gave an update on the current state of the area tourism economy.  Explore Asheville is a non profit that does marketing on behalf of the tourism development authority, which was created by the state to oversee the collection and investment of occupancy taxes from hotels and short term rentals.  This helps the economic development of Buncombe County by attracting and servicing visitors, generating income, jobs and tax revenues, which make the community a better place to live and visit.  The TDA  has listened to leaders and community members to find ways to build back tourism after Covid, have safe and responsible travel, and promote Asheville's creative spirit
Even if you're a local, the Explore Asheville website is full of  things to do, places to eat and drink, music, art, and you may even find a few surprises.
