  • We had 11 members at our virtual meeting today.
  • We have changed a few of our December projects to keep everyone safe.  See details below.
  • You should have received your Quarter 1 dues.  Please mail them to Ashley at First Bank.
  •  Be sure to read the Skywanian each week to keep up to date and know when we will have our next in person meeting or service project!  Check out a calendar here with dates to remember!
In order to keep everyone safe this year the board had to think outside the box and be creative with our shopping spree.  The club will be providing the women and children at Transformation Village a Chick Fil A Lunch on December 5th.  We will also give each child an amount to spend on Amazon.  They will put their item on a wish list and then our club will order all of the gifts in time to arrive by Christmas.  Thanks to our newest member, Beverly, for helping to coordinate this with the kids and moms at Transformation Village.
We're going to sort and deliver books to help United Way with their holiday book drive.  Barnes and Noble will be collecting books that people purchase to give, then we will collect, sort and deliver to the schools and other agencies.  We hope to have a date for a socially distanced "sorting party" soon, or will let you know when you can pick up some boxes to sort.

Our speaker was Noah Wilson, director of sector development for Mountain Bizworks.  Their mission is to build a vibrant and inclusive entrepreneurial community in Western North Carolina by helping small businesses start, grow, and thrive. Mountain BizWorks is a U.S. Treasury certified non-profit community development financial institution (CDFI). For nearly 30 years, they have been making business loans ranging from $1,000 to $250,000 to small businesses in Western North Carolina who may find it difficult to secure funding from banks and other traditional sources.  What makes Mountain BizWorks unique is that all loan decisions and relationships are managed locally, and they work to ensure their clients’ success by offering highly customized, peer-to-peer business coaching by an extensive network of local, successful business owners. This innovative blend of lending and learning helps entrepreneurs overcome obstacles, grow strategically, and create jobs.
December 8 - Jim Blanton, Executive Director of the Asheville and Buncombe County Public  Library System will give an update on the wide variety of programs and services available at the library and the new ways his staff has adapted to serving patrons as a result of Covid.
December 15 - Asheville Kiwanis Club Christmas Party. We will have our party on Zoom instead of in person.  There will be music and other surprises.  Please try to come celebrate with us!
