Issue 8 | August 2016

<<First Name>>, here is your latest newsletter from Cochrane Heart.

Thank you peer reviewers

290 peer reviewers in our new topic based pool of active peer reviewers are based in 43 different countries.

Thanks a lot for your time, expertise and support!

NIHR incentive scheme - calls for proposals

Are you an author of a review/update with our Group?
Interested in extra funding to complete your review/update?

We can nominate three reviews/updates for the NIHR Cochrane Review Group funding. Please send your completed application form to cochrane.heart@ucl.ac.uk no later than 22 August 2016

Up to £10000 can be rewarded. Priority will be given to reviews/updates that are likely to have an impact on the UK healthcare system and/or using more complex methodology.

Co-publications

We encourage co-publications of summaries and abridged versions of your Cochrane review. For this, the completion of a co-publication agreement is required (see policy).

We liaise with Heart, OpenHeart, Global Heart and JAMA but you are free to seek co-publications in other journals too.

Top tip for authors

A prominent issue in most of our review submissions is that GRADE (assessment of the quality of evidence) has not been incorporated throughout the review. To avoid common pitfalls, see here, a resource provided by Cochrane Training

Dissemination

For your review to be widely disseminated, various options exist.

Lee Hooper conducted a webinar, the
recordings of which are now available, to discuss the findings of her review on saturated fat intake and cardiovascular disease

AHA job opportunities

The American Heart Association (AHA) is looking to fill three positions - Associate Evidence Review Specialist and two Science and Medicine Advisors.

Impact stories

We are interested to hear about the impact our reviews have.

Please share yo
ur stories with us. Have you discussed findings of one of our reviews with a patient? Do you know of a trial which was informed by our reviews?
