SHOP UPDATES, FRESH CROP ETHIOPIANS, ETC

2020 has been nothing short of heavy for everyone. The shops been open 9-3, 6 days a week, but we hope to open up seating again for July 1st, potentially. If things progress as safe, we want to do it in a responsible way.

In coffee news, COVID has also impacted the logistics of everything, including imported/exported green. There is no shortage, however there are significant delays. We've managed to lock in fresh crop Ethiopians and are slated to arrive at our studio this week - I'm super excited for these coffees, if all goes well we should have them super early first of all, and I've been looking to work with Keffa for some time now. If you are seeing Ethiopians a month or two back, most likely they are past years crop. Although there's nothing wrong with older crop coffees, sweetness and character can fade, especially if they are lower altitude. More about Keffa, based out of Baltimore, Samuel Demisses commitment to Ethiopian coffee and growers is next level. He's known for bringing in ultra clean coffees and minimizing unnecessary logistics in the middle, meaning more money for producers and better pricing for roasters.  Look forward to a couple of stellar washed lots for our Latif and Opus profiles very soon.

We put a good amount of time into laying out our green buying program, this is to get you our coffees at their peak 👌

INITIATIVES AND DONATIONS TO THE BLACK LIVES MATTER MOVEMENT

Modus is a an inclusive company and small business - we will always do our best to advocate for ethical business practicess, inclusivity of everyone, and vetting our supply chains best we can. This goes beyond our coffee chain.

Doing our best to put our profits to things that matter, we already donated a portion of last months sales for various non-profits supporting the cause, more efforts will be coming. See below for our current initiative with local ceramicist and close friend Dustin Yu.

@DustinRyanYu and ourselves have decided to auction the first of this series, match the funds, and donate to BLMVancouver and Hogans Alley - click the photo to participate.
