Things are looking up for Irish golf tourism
To our valued IGTOA members and partners,

We are finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel following 15 months of unprecedented challenges and uncertainty.

Hospitality has reopened, the vaccine rollout has been accelerated, and the July 19th return of international travel will enable most of us to fulfil the remaining business on the books for August and September.

During this busy period for the association, we have:
  • Retained legacy communications & executed a lobby resulting in support for companies via the IBIA
  • Been Invited to participate in the Golf Tourism Advisory Forum to shape strategy through to the 2027 Ryder Cup
  • Opened discussions on the future direction and goals of the IGTOA in a post-Covid world
We will continue to regularly touch base to let you know about upcoming events, developments and activities.

As you’ll see below, our industry is about to embark on a bright and busy summer.

Yours in golf,
Denis Kane
Chairman IGTOA
Double Celebration at The Europe Hotel & Resort
June 2nd was cause for a double celebration at The Europe Hotel & Resort, where the staff marked both their reopening and six stellar decades of hospitality. Since first opening its doors to guests - on March 26th, 1961 - the Killarney resort has been synonymous with excellence at home and abroad.
Galgorm Castle Golf Club to host ISPS Handa World Invitational
Galgorm’s Championship parkland course is set to stage the 2021 ISPS Handa World Invitational (July 28 to August 1). Tickets are now on sale for a ground-breaking tournament that sees men and women compete for the same level of prize money, while the organisers are urging volunteers and sponsors to #GetInvolved.
Castlerock Golf Club sits ‘in a land made for golf’
The sensational seascapes surrounding Castlerock Golf Club can be seen in an awe-inspiring featurette –  with narration from actor James Nesbitt – produced by Discover Northern Ireland. The Coleraine club has just released the draw for the Wilson and Henderson match play tournaments to be played on their Links course across four days in June.
Lahinch Golf Club hailed as ‘truly a wonder’
The Wandering Golfers published a glowing feature article that likened playing Lahinch’s majestic Links to a religious experience. Newstalk also visited the club on their joyous reopening day. The club has partnered with the nearby Lahinch Coast Hotel as part of a generous Stay and Play summertime initiative for resident guests.
Golf Breaks at The Ashe Hotel
This four-star Ashe Hotel, located in the heart of Tralee Town, is currently offering excellent golf breaks in conjunction with the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club. A short drive from several of the most celebrated courses in the Southwest, the Ashe is the perfect port of call for a golfing staycation.
IGTOA family wins big at Golfers Digest Awards
The 2021 Golfers Digest Editors’ Choice Awards saw Carr Golf, Celtic Golf and Haversham & Baker Expeditions deservedly honoured with Best Tour Operators gongs. Meanwhile, in the Best Golf Resorts in Great Britain & Ireland category, there were big wins for Adare Manor, Carton House, Lough Erne Resort, Mount Juliet Estate, The K Club, and Trump International Doonbeg.
Unwind at Killeavy Castle Estate
Armagh’s Killeavy Castle Estate promises a restorative retreat for those hoping to unwind and reconnect with nature following a year of lockdowns. The four-star hotel is nestled away on 350 acres of tranquil farm and woodland but within driving distance of the hallowed Royal County Down and other exceptional courses.
Carton House reopens refurbished
First-time and returning guests to Carton House will be equally astounded by the magnificent refurbishment completed before their reopening (don’t fret, the resident courses are as spectacular as ever). The Fairmont Hotels managed resort has created an enticing Overnight Golf Experience and will host weekly open Singles events throughout the summer.
Executive Helicopters go above and beyond
Executive Helicopters offer a sky-high solution to anyone eager to make up for the last year and play the maximum number of Ireland’s courses during their golfing excursion. The Galway-based aviation company allows clients to design customised Golf Tours that minimise travel time but wholly enhance the travel experience
