CMAS Schedules

CMAS Testing is quickly approaching! This is our time to shine!

Our students have been hard at work preparing to show what they know.  Due to a few minor complications, our CMAS Schedule is unique to each classroom.  Please locate your child’s class and note their testing dates.

It is extremely important that students are present on all testing days and on time to school.  We begin testing as soon as breakfast is over. Thank you for supporting our students so that they can do their best work on the assessments.

Lights on After School Reminders

Dear Families,

The week of March 9th is the last week of this Lights on After School session. As noted on the forms, clubs will not meet Thursday, 3/12 due to the talent show that evening.

The only exception: Hero Sports Club cannot meet on Wednesday, March 11, but WILL be holding make-up dates on March 16 & 18 for days missed during the session.

The last session for the year of LOAS will start Monday 4/13 and run through May 21. Look for the registration forms in the March 19th Thursday Folders. So far there are NO days off in the last session.

No School
March 19

From DPS:
It is our priority to keep you informed about events that impact our schools and students. This letter is to let you know that, due to the large number of expected teacher absences for the Colorado Education Association (CEA) “Educator Day of Action” on Thursday, March 19, we have made the decision to change the district calendar for this one day.

There will be no school for students on Thursday, March 19. All schools will be closed to students, including preschools. School will resume as normal on Friday, March 20. Charter schools may not be closed on March 19, and we ask that our charter school families please check with their individual schools.

Please know that we understand that this unexpected change is inconvenient for families, and this decision was made due to the large number of teacher absences expected. We would not be able to provide academic programs even if we were to call in as many substitute teachers as possible. Please understand that we took the time to explore all resources and options before making this decision.

Chance to Win Book Fair!

Dear Families,

Stedman is in a District contest to win a free book fair!  The contest is sponsored by DPS Library Services, whose staff helped us get the library open and added hundreds of new, culturally relevant books to the collection. (woohoo!)

To win, Stedman has to have the greatest increase in use of Overdrive, the electronic system for checking out books.  We've already come far, with only 9 books being checked out in the Fall jumping to over 600 just two months into the new year! (!!!) Thank you to all families who are already using this valuable resource!

We would LOVE to win the contest, but need even more participation. Please go to the DPS website to access Overdrive and download the wonderful books available for kids AND adults.  Let's Read!!!

Here's how:
You'll need to sign in with your child's ID number, the same one they use for IStation.  If you need the ID number, please contact your classroom teacher, Amanda (our librarian), or me, and we'll make sure you get it!

On your computer, go to this link:

Select school: Stedman

Sign in with:

DPS Student Username:
6-digit student ID #
DPS Student Password:
8-digit birthdate

Start checking out books!

(Overdrive will soon become "Sora".  You can go to the App store, download the Sora app to your mobile phone and sign in the same way.)

Thank you,
Anne Ginnold

Coronavirus Information from DPS

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Important Notice to Parents

Denver Public Schools (DPS) is actively communicating with the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) and with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) about the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). As of yesterday, there are two confirmed cases in Colorado.

We are still taking this health threat very seriously, continuing to monitor schools for outbreaks, and regularly disinfecting schools during and after school hours. When there are respiratory or gastrointestinal outbreaks, DPS school nurses and school leaders will use the existing illness outbreak processes to track illnesses, notify health department officials, disinfect schools, and notify staff and parents. We are also advising parents do not send your child to school if they may be sick. Keeping your sick child home will be a great benefit for the health and wellness of all students and staff.

What You Need to Know

  • Touching an object or surface with the virus on it, then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes before washing your hands
  • Because Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is new, we are learning more each day about the transmission patterns and incubation periods.

What are the symptoms?

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Severe Illness

What can I do?

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub
  • Help your young students to wash their hands well
  • Do not drop off your sick child at school
  • Stay home when you’re sick
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing
  • Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms

The outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is changing rapidly. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and CDPHE are providing updated information:

If you have general questions about 2019-nCoV please call CO-Help at 303-389-1687 or 1-877-462-2911 or email Answers are available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and more.

PTA has some HUGE goals for next year. We were able to raise more money than ever last year, and we're hoping to beat that with online fundraiser - which is now LIVE. Things we're hoping to raise money for:

* Supporting staff needs (paras, art)
* Art and Science enrichment
* Field Trips
* Much, much more!

We raise the most money by simple shares on social media and in friend networks. Please be sure to spread the word FAR and WIDE so we can give our kids what they need to thrive at Stedman
