Our builders, Macqueens, have been working hard through the short daylight days to achieve a nearly finished Room in the Wood for us. As you can see from the pictures, the building is up and nearly complete. There’s just the internal furnishings to go and we’re ready for guests.
Pathway
The pathway linking the Room in the Wood to the house (for breakfast in the new dining room) is well-underway, with Andrew and Magnus creating a stone circle as a feature along the way. It’ll be time for planting with indigenous Skye shrubbery and trees along the new pathway soon.
House Extension
The new kitchen is now fitted and functioning, and the new dining room is on the way to being ready for guests.
Booking Room in the Wood
We’ve already taken some bookings for 2017. If you’d like to book with us, do call 01478 650378 to check availability and, hopefully, arrange a visit. The Room in the Wood – your woodland bedroom – is available from June 2017 but with current progress an earlier stay could be possible.
Having fun
Whilst the most disruptive of the recent changes i.e. the creation and fitting of the new kitchen, have been going on during January and early February, we took the opportunity to have a break. We spent a delightful week on the Banffshire coast based at Gardenstown (think Robin Hood’s Bay without tourist features) and we’ve just returned from a week in Switzerland roaming the winterwanderwegs in the Kandersteg region (that's Lake Lucerne under the low cloud in the photograph).
So, we’re refreshed and ready for the forthcoming Skye holiday season with our aim to provide a great bed and breakfast experience for you.
Did you know?....
Did you know there’s a new gin distillery opening in Portree? The Isle of Skye Distillers are launching their Misty Isle Gin from January 2017.
It’s worth visiting their website www.isleofskyedistillers.com for the Skye photography alone. And, as previously reported, there’s a new whisky distillery on the nearby island of Raasay opening in the summer of 2017. This will be the first legal distillery on Raasay!
