Coming Up: Events & Deadlines in the Next Week

Sep 9: Job Market Workshop! For anyone even remotely interested in the academic job market, postdocs, or fellowships. 1-3 pm, 2028 UH.
Sep 9: first meeting of the year of Khôra at UIC, Rhetoric Society of America student chapter, 5-7 pm at Rainbo Club (1150 N Damen).
Sep 11: Critical Writing Workshop, 1-3 pm in 1850 UH. Will meet each Weds. through Week 15 alternating writing time and workshop.
Sept 12: Last day to waive or change Campus Care coverage
Sep 13: Opening Colloquium w/Prof Coviello, 3-5 pm, 2028 UH.
Sept 13: Last day to Apply to Graduate this semester
Sept 13: Apply for LAS/Department Travel funding for Fall 2019 (up to $500).

Sept 12: Radcliffe Fellows: "We welcome applications from scholars and practitioners who connect research to law, policy, pressing social issues, and/or who seek to actively engage audiences beyond academia... Reflecting Radcliffe’s unique history, each year some projects focus on women, gender, and society or draw on the Schlesinger Library’s rich collections. In 2020–2021, one fellow will be designated a Mellon-Schlesinger fellow, as part of the project commemorating the centennial of the 19th Amendment."

Sep 15: Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, German Chancellor Fellowship. Monthly stipends range from $2,900 to $3,700 US dollars. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers up to 10 fellowships for globally minded, U.S. professional leaders to develop a one-year project in Germany.

Sep 9: Chicago Colloquium on Digital Humanities and Computer Science (DHCS)
. Submit a title and 200-300 word abstract along with a brief biography or C.V. using the Submission Form.


Sept 30: Deadline for Student Presenter Award (Grad College; $100-$300) for travel in June, July, Aug, Sept (open to MAs).
Oct 31: Graduate Student Council Award (up to $275) application due for travel in Q3 (8/1-10/31).
Nov 1- Nov 4: Prelim Exams.
Dec 9-13: Finals Week.
Dec 18: Grades due.
