The Connection Between Conservation, Health & Development:

Report-back from Uganda

In a world of seemingly insurmountable problems, how can linking conservation, health & development be a game-changer for people and the planet?

The Sierra Club’s San Francisco Bay Chapter Population, Health & Environment Committee invites you to join filmmaker and conservationist Chris Austria and Suzanne York, director of Transition Earth. They will talk about their recent trip to Uganda, and what is working on the ground to empower people with jobs and health. This includes family planning, and the efforts to protect nature and the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Chris will show some of his Uganda wildlife footage and also discuss the filming of his documentary on Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka, founder of Conservation Through Public Health.

When:  September 27th at 7:00 pm*
Where: Sierra Club SF Bay Chapter (2530 San Pablo Ave # I, Berkeley, CA)
Cost:    Free!  (refreshments provided)

If you can't make it or aren't in the area, the event will be filmed and we'll let you know when it's posted on the internet in an upcoming newsletter. Also, please check us out on Facebook, as we hope to test out Facebook Live for this event!
