LPD: School Resource Officers

Did you know Loveland has three School Resource Officers?

Officer Jesse Moore works at Loveland High School, Officer Mike Boettger works at Loveland Intermediate School, and Officer Jacob Steinkoenig works at Saint Columban. Our school resources officers greet students arriving and leaving school, assist the safety teams, coordinate educational programs, advise for special events, work with the behavioral teams, and much more! Each school is a unique community and has individual needs, so our officers adapt to the needs of their school.

Loveland SROs are also trained in crime prevention techniques and are certified through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to conduct Ohio School Threat Assessments. Each year, every school must conduct a threat assessment by a certified officer. The SROs assist our schools with their threat assessments, review emergency operations plans, and assist with critical incident drills. But we don’t stop there! Loveland officers will conduct threat assessments for your business, place of worship, or other location to help prevent and reduce crime in our community. Please contact LPD if you are interested in a threat assessment for your location!

Project Updates

Miamiview Drive Project: Utility reconnections are finished, and concrete work is underway. Paving will take place in the spring when asphalt plants reopen. Click here for more info.

Main & Chestnut Project: Water main installation, water service transfers, storm sewer improvements, and concrete repairs have been completed. Traffic signal work and paving are scheduled to begin in Spring 2022 after the signal components have been manufactured and the asphalt plants reopen. Read more about this project.

Public Works Facility: Utilities will be connected in the coming weeks. Click here for more info.

2022 Road Program: The annual road program contract with JK Meurer Corp. was renewed on Jan. 12. The 2022 budget included $1,200,000 for the road program. The streets (or sections of streets) that will be included in the program will be determined in the spring, after the effects of this winter’s freeze/thaw. Once available, the scope of work and project updates will be posted on the Construction Projects webpage.

Nisbet Park Gazebo: A local vendor is preparing a preliminary design, and surveyors will be out in the coming weeks to determine the exact location in the park. Read more about the gazebo

Phillips Park Playground: A new playground is coming in 2022! This will replace the playground that had to be removed in 2021.

Dog Park: The city's first dog park is coming to Kiwanis Park. A concrete pad has been poured, and prepwork has begun for fencing.

Safety Center Parking Lot Expansion: JK Meurer Corp. was awarded the contract to expand the parking lots at the Safety Center. Work will begin in spring when the asphalt plants reopen. Ten public spaces will be added to the front lot, as well as a second driveway. A 60x70 ft. parking expansion for staff in the rear of the building is also planned.

We held Showcase Night at Loveland High School on Wednesday, Feb. 9, and I’m so thankful for the students, parents, and staff members who helped make it happen. Showcase Night was a district-wide open house, which let us talk about the accomplishments of our students and show off some of the great programs in our buildings.
We also launched our Strategic Vision work for the district. During our Community Input sessions, we talked about our “Portrait of a Tiger” and laid out how our Strategic Vision process will bring community stakeholders together to focus on our students.
We’ve been posting signs and mailing postcards to homes to get as many people involved as possible. Visit our website to stay up to date on the process. I’m excited to start on this journey with our community to build a shared vision of success for our students and lay out the action plan to get us there.
