Three Quick Bourbon Stories Delivered to You Each Friday - Issue 21 (or Saturday if Bourbon Zeppelin delivers on a Friday)
Yeah, don't believe that ABV number.
This past week, I was lucky enough to once again get to interview Freddie Johnson of Buffalo Trace. The interview was for The Bourbon Show and it will come out on July 15. We took a very different approach with this conversation. Rather then ask about his career, we really got into his personal life. There are many stories he shared that I hadn't heard before, but one I thought was pretty interesting was about his mother. I feel like most of us know that both his father and grandfather had worked for George T. Stagg Distillery, the precursor of Buffalo Trace, but what I didn't know was that Freddie's mother also worked in the industry. She worked at Jim Beam, having spent time working in three of their different distillery locations through the years (Old Crow, Old Taylor and Old Grand-Dad).
We recently added a slew of events for club members of the #ABVNetworkCrew Club. There are small things like invitations to go see the new Quentin Tarantino movie with Bo Cumberland and Steve Akley when it comes out, and much bigger events like lunch at Kentucky Peerless with owner Corky Taylor and Master Distillery Caleb Kilburn or enjoying some cigars and bourbon at Limestone Branch Distillery with Stephen Fante and Jim Beam. If you haven't yet joined the Club, or you just want to learn more about the events and the deals the club offers, check out: abvnetwork.com/club.
Got to spend a day with Freddie Noe shooting for our upcoming Blending is Trending movie. He surprised Bo Cumberland and I with a sample of Little Book Chapter 3. We weren't able to get any info about what the blend consists of, but he did share the proof. This one is coming in at 122.6. The other thing I know... it's fantastic. Bo and I will both be buying bottles of this one.
