Art Center Morro Bay is a board run, member supported, non-profit organization. Membership includes opportunities to exhibit artwork within the gallery, local businesses and Art in the Park. Members may attend classes, workshops and other gallery related events at a free or reduced rate. Membership comes with a responsibility to help support the organization and daily operation of the gallery. There is still an urgent need for volunteers as docents and board positions to include Docent Directorand Gallery Director. A small volunteer job can make a huge difference to all of us working hard to make Art Center Morro Bay one of the best galleries on the Central Coast.

June Demo
Plein Aire Painting with
Debra Joy Groesser
June’s Monday plein air demo was given to a packed house. Debra Joy Groesser demonstrated painting from plein air studies. This award winning plein air artist, noted for her impressionistic style shared with us the techniques she uses to create true to life color in her art. Starting with the washes she used at the beginning of her piece to the subtle colors of sky, water and waves, Groesser demonstrated skill and expertise while nearly finishing a beautiful seascape in just 2 hours. She also shared some of her favorite products especially suited to plein air painting. One of them being the Rosemary & Company brushes she gets from England and the RayMar linen panels she uses for her paintings. Debra Joy Groesser will be our juror for the upcoming exhibit starting September 20th. Please visit www.artcentermorrobay.org for details and prospectus.
Given away as a raffle item was one of Debra Joy Groesser’s plein air pieces done just the day before, capturing the beautiful Eucalyptus trees and boats of Morro Bay; valued at over $400.
The winner of the raffle was Colleen Ray. Congratulations Collen!
On a sad note, we would like to honor a dear friend for many years to the Morro Bay Art Association, Barbara Fageol who recently passed away. Barbara's husband Bill is a past President of the Association. Our sympathies are extended to Bill and his family.
