Aung Naing's MYANMAR
We asked Aung Naing, MD of EPG Travel -

What keeps you up at night?

"Both day and night, I am always agonizing over how EPG Travel Co. can maintain its competitive edge in an industry and in a market that is more competitive than ever. It’s no longer enough to be one of the most experienced and longest established DMCs in the country. It’s no longer enough to have an unblemished track record of 20 plus years, with scores of satisfied client companies from almost every continent on earth. One way we now distinguish ourselves from every other DMC in Myanmar is through our very unique program of Corporate Social Responsibility through which we provide substantial and direct financial support to Burma Border Projects, an NGO assisting displaced people from Myanmar living along the Thai-Myanmar border which was actually founded and is still managed by one of my American co-founders of EPG Travel."

What do you love most about your country?

"This is easy. It’s our people. Ask anyone who has visited this country for the first time what they liked most about their experience. And they will begin by enthusiastically describing the extraordinary sights they visited, the unparalleled Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, the other-worldly temples of Bagan, and the beauty and serenity of Inle Lake with its leg-rowing fisherman,.  But they will always end their answer by saying that it wasn’t all of these sights that moved them the most, but it was the intrinsic kindness and genuine warmth of the Myanmar people-something these travelers will say they rarely experience to this degree anywhere else they may go."

We asked Jojo Clemente, President, Rajah Tours Philippines-

What keeps you up at night ?

"Many things. World current events and how it could affect our business. From an business owner point of view, are we making enough to sustain the company. What new products can we share with our clients. A lot keeps me up night, actually."
What do you love most about your country ?
"What I love about the Philippines is that it is unique in the context of being a country in Asia. Due to our history, we are not as Asian as our neighbours but not really Western on the other hand. I also love that our people are warm and friendly which puts our visitors at ease the moment they interact with us. I love that our country is blessed with so many natural wonders and attractions that guests are genuinely surprised and delighted when they get here."

We asked Pham Ha, CEO of Luxury Travel-
What keeps you up at night?

"It keeps us up at night wondering pondering what can be improved or changed to make our customers’ holidays more amazing. We keep thinking how we can make them say “wow” every day in their holiday and remember it as their unforgettable lifetime journey. In our vision, organizing holidays should offer more than normal sightseeing arrangements but be able to touch travellers’ hearts, heal their souls or connect people in the most magical way.

In other times, questions about responsible travel also keep us thinking. We consider and evaluate ways that help locals develop their tourism business sustainably as well as educating travellers with this information, so together we can build a stronger sustainable tourism industry."

What do you love most about your country?
"It is difficult to choose one thing that we love most about our country, especially since we were born in a country full of breathtaking scenery, rich history, diverse cultures and a culinary world exciting you in every meal. However, I would love to present our people as the best part of our country.

Travellers visiting our country will always be welcomed with smiles, warm hospitality and countless stories of intriguing cultures. It is truly our people who make travellers’ holidays most memorable, making them smile and bringing warmth to their hearts  every day which will entice them back for more happy times and adventures."

Rajeev's INDIA
We asked Rajeev Kohli, JMD of Creative Travel-

What keeps you up at night?
"I have been blessed to have the privilege of taking on some leadership roles in our industry. I am the first Asian to be President of the Global Incentive Travel Association, SITE. I am also the Senior Vice President of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO). These are roles of great advocacy and great responsibility. I was raised on the ethos of giving back to the industry we work in. I am grateful to have a company that sits at the premier end of the industry. My passion to help the larger industry grow and be prosperous is one of my passions that keeps my mind going."

What do you love most about your country ?
"What I love the most is our diversity. We literally have something for every passion point. Be is culture or cuisine; nature or adventure, beaches or mountains; wellness or shopping. No matter what a traveller wants, we have something to offer. Our diversity does not end in product alone. We are also a diverse population. Our food, our gods, our costumes all change every 100 miles. This ensures that no matter where we take the traveller, we have something fresh to offer. We also are a society that loves showing our inner feelings to guests. That is why travellers feel very welcome in any corner of India they travel to. I am blessed with some much to offer and also cursed as where to start with."
Tell Me More
Aung Naing, Managing Director, EPG Travel - "Back in 1994, Myanmar had just begun to open its borders to the outside world. I decided that the time was right to start a new kind of incoming tour operator—one that knew precisely how to cater to the most discerning of visitors from western countries. Most tour operators in Myanmar at that time had never even traveled to the west let alone had any idea of the exacting standards of experienced travelers from Western Europe. So, together with two American friends, both veterans of the international travel industry, I started EPG Travel Co., Ltd.

We were successful from the very beginning by combining my intimate knowledge of this amazing country, together with my colleagues’ awareness of the standards we would have to meet, and insist that our suppliers (hotels, restaurants, coach companies and guides) also meet. It was a learning experience for everyone, with the result being that even our very first groups of travelers from Germany, France, The Netherlands, The U.K., and Scandinavia raved about not only the beauty and unspoiled nature of the country but also on the unexpected high level of services they enjoyed by traveling with us. And most of these companies still travel with us, more than 20 years later."
Jojo Clemente, President, Rajah Tours -

In the beginning, I was in the travel industry due to the fact that it was a family business. I had intentions to be a teacher but duty called. However, as time passed, I grew to love the industry for due to its dynamism, the opportunities to meet so many people and see so much of my country and the world.

It is also about the ability to help other people to see my country and explore its beauty."

Pham Ha, CEO, Luxury Travel

"Apart from the fact that travelling is my great passion, I work in the tourism industry with the purpose of bringing happiness to worldwide travellers through our memorable holidays.

It excites me to go to work every morning, knowing our customers are enjoying wonderful holidays and that new exciting adventures are awaiting them.

We are honoured to work in the tourism field to help to bring benefits to local communities as well as to promote local destinations to the world."

Rajeev Kohli, Jt Managing Director, Creative Travel - "For 39 years and two generations, my family has showcased some of the finest experiences across South Asia to travellers of all types from around the world. Our team of over 150 work passionately to create some of the finest and most engaging experiences to match any interest across the region. I essentially grew up in this industry. Even though I had a high quality professional education, I felt the draw to join the family and continue the legacy of making India a fascinating destination to visit. The challenge of creating new and exciting experiences across our region keeps me going every day. I had the option of doing anything else around the world, but this is what I truly enjoy.
We use our reputation & goodwill to ensure the very best for our partners like you. I am so very proud of the work we do and the friendships it has helped us develop with partners across the world."
