The Global Index on Responsible AI
It is an exciting new phase for the Global Index as the team prepares to pilot the methodology in order to test and refine the approach to selected indicators, capacity-building, research tools, and research tools.
To ensure regional representation, the pilot will involve at least eight countries from around the world chosen for their diverse AI maturity levels and landscapes. In addition, we are establishing a committee composed of representatives from our regional hubs that will assess the effectiveness of our strategies, share insights, and provide valuable feedback to refine the Index. The committee will work closely with the Global Index project team to assess and refine the data collection processes, ultimately paving the way for a more comprehensive and inclusive Global Index on Responsible AI. We will keep you updated on the learnings that come out of pilot.

Global Data Barometer
As we edge closer to the one year anniversary of the publication of the first edition of the Global Data Barometer, we reflect on the past, present, and future of the Barometer. Just recently, Dr. Silvana Fumega, the Barometer’s project director, joined the Open Data Charter’s session, Beyond Data Openness: Purpose, Privacy and Priorities, at this year’s Mozilla Festival. The event recording is available here.
Meanwhile, we have been working on a number of new exciting projects that build upon the first edition. In response to a call for proposals in February, we have received over 100 proposals for spin-off projects, and the GDB team is hard at work sorting through the proposals. We will be announcing the successful proposals in the coming weeks.
