WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS &
LIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE

CALL TO WORSHIP – (responsive)
ONE:  Sometimes worship is a parade, a celebration,
a gathering of people expressing their joy.
ALL:  Sometimes worship is an adventure, a quest, a gathering of people searching for meaning.
ONE:  Sometimes worship is a funeral, a fast, a gathering of people seeing comfort in their grief.
ALL:  Among us today are people who have come to march, people who have come to search, people who have come to weep . . . Yet we have all come to acknowledge God and to connect with each other.
ONE:  Come with open minds, open hearts, open arms, that we all might find that for which we have come and that, as well, we all might be surprised.

HYMN: VU #374 Come and Find the Quiet Centre

WISDOM from the PSALMS – Psalm 78 (from Psalms Now)

MORNING PRAYER (unison)
Invisible God, give us hearts to see the things our eyes overlook.  Open our hearts to feel the things our hands can’t touch.  Open our hearts to hear the still, small voice which sounds like only silence to our listening ears.
Teach us to know you for what you really are – not flash or thunder, but love, softly spoken, flowing like a fountain, bathing the soul and the skin.  AMEN

MINISTRY OF MUSIC

that ourselves and all our living,
            we may offer faithfully.

PARTING SONG: “Go Now In Peace”

Go now in peace, never be afraid,
God will go with you each hour of every day.
Go now in faith steadfast, strong and true,
Know God will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love and show you believe,
Reach out to others so all the world can see.
God will be there, watching from above.
Go now in peace, in faith and in love.
Amen, Amen, Amen.

Our Caretaker, Kathy Tune, and volunteers have been busy cleaning out the basement of the Church building.

Several items that are in good condition but are no longer of use to the Church are available for free-will donations.

After the Service on Sunday Aug 14 and Sunday Aug 21, take a few minutes to view the items and see if there is anything you can use.

A detailed list of items will be available soon.

The Innerkip United Church Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday September 26th.

The Annual Report is available in the Church Hall or by email.

The Annual Meeting is an opportunity for the people of the congregation to steer and support the ongoing Ministry of the Church.

Several members of the Committees that help the Church to operate and succeed have resigned in the last few months. We need support from the community to succeed in the community. Please consider volunteering for a Committee. Come to the meeting and let your voice be heard.

“Thank You for Believing:
Arwa’s Story”

“This organization (Montreal City Mission) has become not only my full-time job, not only my provider. It has become my home. I hope to see more and more women getting the same chance to have this better life for their families,” says Arwa Nofal, a Palestinian refugee whose life changed thanks to a Mission & Service partner.

video of Arwa’s story is available.
