Cindy, we welcome you to our BIS family and we look forward to a long and happy journey together.

Nursery fun

We are so excited that our Nursery class is finally open. The children had lots of fun getting to know one another, playing with their new toys and exploring the different fun activities in the class.

Some of the activities were playing with playdough, painting, water play outside and most importantly they are learning how to share with one another. The children love the murals on the wall that Miss Martie van Dyk painted for us and it has made the children settle in nicely.

There is a little garden with shade cloth cover that makes it very pleasant for the children to play under when it is hot.  Over the past couple of days they have been playing with water play outside and getting messy with gloop and playdough play.

The children get a breakfast, lunch and healthy snacks throughout the day.  After their afternoon nap, they wake up hungry and get some more fruit treats.

We look forward to the next few weeks as the children become more familiar with their surroundings and get to know their friends.

Orchard plants: First harvest

During the last months, the students dedicated themselves to care for and water the orchard plants, resulting in the first harvest of the year. This time we started with the radishes, which turned out to be good in size and bright red. All the students felt proud of their work when they saw the results. We can’t wait to taste them, we are sure these radishes will be delicious!

Pop Art on the iPads

Class One have been honing their skills on the school's iPads. The children have enjoyed numerous mathematical, geographical and Art activities on these wonderful devices. As part of their Andy Warhol Art topic, individual class members used the 'Photo Booth' Application to create their own version of his Pop Art genre. It was great fun to see everyone's changing appearance.

Class One are a really good looking group of children but these images depict them differently! The iPad is an excellent tool to create cross-curricular links, encourage further independent research and what's more... a great hit with the children.
