Newest intellectual contributors and our "Day of Progress"

Dear friends and colleagues,

Shaping progress – this is the overall aim of our work at Das Progressive Zentrum. Just before the summer break, we reached a significant milestone:

Firstly, we are delighted to announce that 16 thought leaders and practitioners have joined us as new Fellows and Members of our Scientific Council. They will add to the intellectual life within in our three key programme areas “International Relations”, “Future of Democracy” and “Structural Change”, as well as explore on new thematic threads such as “Digital Democracy”, “Corporate Citizenship” and “Democratic Debating Culture”. We will introduce our new members briefly below as well as extensively on our website.

On 28 June, my personal “Day of Progress” in the first half of this year was in the light of intelligent and progressive thinkers. To begin with, 150 selected guests from Germany and Europe followed our invitation to the Innocracy Conference. Under the title “The Next Democracy. Transforming Paradigms, Institutions and the Market” the question, we discussed how to renew our democratic structures, processes and institutions in various workshops, talks and debates. Selected sessions have been recorded for you, which you can find on our website.

The conference was followed by the Berlin Summer Night. One of the highlights was the debate between the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Franziska Giffey and Robert Habeck, Federal Chairman of Alliance 90/The Greens, as well as the journalist Elisabeth Niejahr. In addition to the governmental crisis that happened that day, they addressed the general question of how to promote social progress and solidarity in times of increasing collective uncertainty.

I would like to thank all our partners and contributors, who made this grand and wonderful day possible! I wish you a relaxing summer break and a new energy boost for your upcoming work.
