Today marks the official opening of this year's Australian Technologies Competition - the leading platform to showcase and accelerate Australian tech scaleups with the greatest global potential.
Our role is to serve as a conduit, linking high potential SMEs with a pool of potential partners, investors and support services - at the same time, providing valuable business advice. Through our carefully curated program, we provide the stepping stones for high potential SMEs to achieve commercialisation success. Above all, we are champions of homegrown tech, proudly heralding Australia's most innovative entrepreneurs with impact solutions.
ATC's alumni comprises of some stellar companies who have made incredible progress in their arena. Some of these companies include: BluGlass Limited, Calix Limited, Secure Code Warrior, FluroSat, RedEye, CancerAid, Stormseal, Sound Scouts, OPEC Systems - to name but a few.
Welcoming the New Wave
Now, its time to pass the baton and mentor the new wave of game-changers who are making their mark and delighting their customers with their unique solution.
In 2020, we have 12 award categories, including many that address the current challenges of our time, including health, clean energy, recycling, water and food security, cyber and a new addition - disaster management. Australian scaleups generate enormous value for the Australian economy and will play an important role in our national recovery; they deserve all of the support they can get.
If you know someone who should throw their hat in the ring this year - please encourage them to apply.
The Australian Technologies Competition is a seven-month long program and there are multiple events in the program. In recognition of the times, we will have a virtual alternative for those that don’t materialise as physical get-togethers.
As we embark on the year ahead, I extend a special message of thanks to our sponsors, who believe in the importance of our program. Thank you to: The Department of Industry, Science, Energy & Resources, the Victorian Government's Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning and Department of Jobs, Precincts & Regions, Australia's Industry Growth Centres: AustCyber, the Australian Space Agency, FIAL, METS Ignited, MTPConnect and NERA; joined by corporate sponsors: FB Rice, Energy Australia and Bird&Bird, and of course a host of Marketing Partners.
