Simple. No Fuss. Just updates.
From me to you.

This is the "long-awaited" S1.E2. of my unexpected newsletter. I've actually gotten really good feedback from you all and I've been looking forward to writing the follow-up.

Catch up on the first one right here.

To recap for the new arrivals:
  1.  It'll always be about what's going on in my photography world
  2.  I'll send something only when there's an interesting update.
  3.  I think you'll be relieved to know that I'm not selling anything
  4.  This is really so that we can stay in touch
  5.  It'll be inconsistent in quality and frequency ... at best. :P
Today, we got 3 main things and an afterthought.

Here goes...

A cool thing I did with a friend:
I am fortunate to know some cool people that I consider my friends... it also helps when said cool people have a cool job... like... being the host/creator of a freakin' TV SHOW!

My friend Cindy from The Pulse TV invited me to her brand new Wine Wednesday show where she talks to interesting people for an in-depth convo (yes, you read that right, I just called myself interesting). It's 30 minutes long and I was nervous at the beginning but the wine I was drinking sure helped loosen me up. I advise you to watch it completely as I get goofier and looser towards the end... the wiiiiine!

I may have put my foot in my mouth a couple of times and may have said a couple of controversial things that could offend some sensibilities... soooo, sorry?

I won something:
I won another award for one of my pictures at PPSDC's Image Competition. I gotta say, it never gets old. I am so proud of it. The caliber of the judges was high and the judging was harsh! I had cold sweat running down my back as they were talking about my image and it was gratifying to hear they liked it so much.

I shot this image in Sao Paolo, Brazil just a couple of weeks ago. I was at the amazing municipal market and Gaspard was on a smoke break (it should have been the title of the image but... whatever it's a whole story) and we struck up a conversation. After a minute or 2, I asked him if I could make his portrait. I raised my camera, made the shot and I instantly knew I had a keeper.

I Hope you like it.

A foolish thing I did:
I need to be more on social media and market myself, right? Anybody will tell you that as a photographer, I particularly need to be on Instagram. But honestly, Instagram gives me anxiety. It's nice and I get inspired but I also get social media fatigue... big time.

So what do I go and do? I went and created a YouTube channel... because that's what (stupid) people with social media fatigue do: they create more work for themselves. Just like with this very newsletter (if you've read this far), I decided to do this during a moment of inspiration and I kinda like it. I'm learning a whole other set of tools It remains to be seen how often I'll be doing it and what it will exactly consist of. Right now, it looks like a vlog.

Ill' say this though: It is a strange thing to decide to put yourself on camera and think you have something interesting to say. It takes a healthy ego (... clearly...) and at the same time, I think you need to have the self-awareness to realize the silliness of it all.

I quite like it.
and ... D.

An afterthought:

I was recognized for my wedding photos and my couples on Wedding Wire! Woohoo!! It's a small thing but it's nice to feel valued.

Frankly, I am pretty happy about it.

That's it for today.
Not too painful, right?
