|Hi <<First Name>>,
Welcome to June! Can you believe it’s been 3 months since we started working from home?
What does this mean for your staff?
There’s been a few changes lately, and I want to give you an update on our transition from Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) effective 1 June 2020 until 15 June 2020.
Here’s a quick snapshot between ECQ and GCQ below:
Though industries are slowly opening up and restrictions are easing, we don’t believe it is the best time to consider having staff working in the office.
I say this due to the increasing number of positive cases identified each day in Cebu City, in the past weeks—and it doesn’t look good. We have an average of 55 new cases per day based on last week's stats alone.
COVID-19 cases in Cebu City for the past 3 weeks:
Cebu City as of 29 May: 2,144 cases (Source: Cebu City PIO)
With that said, even if the government has given the go signal for companies like ours to operate at 50% office capacity, we have to err on the side of caution and not risk our staff being exposed.
To date, we have zero cases of positive COVID-19 in the entire company and it’s our goal to keep it that way.
Moreover, given our service is on a cost-plus margin, any cost we incur is then passed onto our clients. So, if anyone was found to be COVID-19 positive in the office, we would then be required to get everyone exposed tested. We’d hate to then have to pass that cost onto you, our clients.
On the bright side, we’re happy to know that the majority— if not all—of the staff are doing well. Our Team Leads have constant check-ins with their teams and are able to address concerns quickly. We’ve even rolled out weekly town hall meetings (run by Brian and I) and have team activities to strengthen our sense of community through the virtual space. Hurray!
Having a sense of community in the time of isolation is a huge help. It’s personally helped me a lot!
There is still uncertainty on what comes next but we look forward to seeing what happens after 15 June 2020.
All the best,
