Happy Veterans Day: To all veterans, enjoy the appreciation shown on this day. You earned it. However, don't forget to show your appreciation for those who celebrate your decision and opportunity to serve. We served because the citizens of this country and our form of government are worth defending, and this is a privilege.
Election 2016: Conan O'Brien said it best. "We have free and fair elections and I think that's a wonderful thing. Now, today Americans have the right to feel happy, angry, pessimistic, optimistic, but everybody should feel grateful that we get to vote, and if we don't get our way we have the chance to try again." Regardless of who is elected, we have a duty to do whatever we can to make our nation and community better by educating ourselves about the issues and participating actively in the election process - national and local.
Regular Adultery vs. Criminal Adultery: For years, we've observed the liberal punishment of adultery in the military. This included any form of consensual intercourse where at least one participant was married to someone else. Now, the Joint Service Committee on Military Justice finally narrowed the scope. "The offense of adultery is intended to prohibit extramarital sexual behavior that directly affects the discipline of the armed forces, respect for the chain of command, or maintenance of unit cohesion. The intent of this provision is to limit the crime of adultery to those situations where the negative impact to the unit is real rather than theorized." Full analysis here.
