We travelled to Ballarat for a 3-1 loss. Last year we fielded some of the youngest seconds team we can remember. This game was no different.
The guys work rate was fantastic and at Half time we were one all. The second half we lost a little composure and West Vic's experience shone thru and this reflected in the result.
Good first up, effort lots of plusses, lots to learn.

The KBH girls had the down trek to Mornington for the first round as a new club. After a couple of minor hiccups and a few wrong turns, all girls made it down in time. Looking flash in singlets 4 sizes too big and pink ribbons in support of the McGrath Foundation fundraiser (shout out to Lisa for her crafty work creating Katie the most extravagant headpiece I have ever seen someone play hockey in) we were ready to take the pitch.
With the experience of Lisa “out of retirement” Stewart, Ange “50 goals” Allen, and Sal “can walk around you” Schwal in the line-up, we were excited to show VL1 what we are made of. Some flashy runs from Holly tearing up the midfield, and some great play from Sal on the forward line - things were looking positive. Parts of the game saw KBH dominating the possession with some great positioning and leading, but we couldn’t seem to convert with a few missed opportunities sailing past the goals.
It was a tough fought game with KBH coming off second best, but some great passages of play have us all excited for the season to come. Having played on a pitch slower, sandier, and stickier than Elgar circa 2015, we can’t wait to play on our new pitch!
Congratulations to Ash, Elika, and Sally K for their first game of VL1, and a big welcome to Alice for her first game as a Brumby! Special mention to Millie Baker for some superb saves in the net, and sending the biggest GOOD LUCK message out to Jess Williams for under 21s this coming weekend.
First card of the season goes to Holly – still not sure what for!
End score: KBH 0, Mornington 2.
Women's Vic League 1 Reserves
First match of the season, an enjoyable but tense game played in Mornington in support of the pink sticks fund raiser event. Good performance by all players with most of the game 0-1 against us but with sheer determination right on the whistle we had an opportunity to even the score with a short corner. The forwards proved their worthiness and under pressure SCORE!! 1-1 it's a true sign of good things to come for the rest of the season.
How to submit a match report in 2016
The rule is for 2016, if you WIN, your team MUST submit a match report by 7pm Wednesday. If you lose or draw this is optional but still preferred that you submit a short report.
Reports to Chelsea by the following Wednesday 7pm. Make sure you include what team it is for, the score, the report and the author. If team managers could delegate this task out to players in your team this would be greatly appreciated.
2016 Fixtures are being finalised for remaining teams who have not stared. KBH fixtures can be found here
Make sure you book mark this on your web browser.

Social media usage
I am writing to draw your attention to the use of Social Media on the eve of the commencement of the 2016 Competition Season. The impact and importance of social media as a communications tool and as a promotional tool for our sport should not be underestimated. As an amateur sport, hockey can gain unprecedented exposure through social media if used to its capability and used appropriately. Read the full report here

KBH Brumbies 2016 Registration
ALL players must be registered before the first game if you intend to step on the hockey field. You cannot play unregistered. Make sure you pay BOTH the HV fee and the Brumbies club fee otherwise you registration is not complete.
Our online registrations for 2016 open February 1st, and further information is contained below. This year there are some revisions to fees catering for increased club costs (umpires, tech bench officials and general running costs). Hockey Victoria has also increased its registration fees this year to include entry fees for the SNHC as well as HV insurance and membership costs. When registering it is important you register and pay for the HV registration and also the club fees. Un-financial players at round 1 will not be eligible for selection. The entire registration process, including payment is online this year. You must register (and pay) with Hockey Victoria AND KBH Brumbies (this can be done and paid together.) The schedule of club fees for KBH Brumbies is as follows, including GST:
U10, second & subsequent child $144.00
U12, U14, U16, U18 $265.00
U12, U14, U16, U18, second & subsequent child $212.00
Senior Player $470.00
Senior Elite (VL1/R and top grade Pennant players) $580.00
Junior Goalie with own kit $100.00
Seniors, Masters and Elite Goalie with own kit $120.00
Senior Full time Student $400.00
Seniors regularly playing in 2nd team $150
Juniors Playing Seniors $150
Hockey Victoria Membership fees have changed for 2016. They are now offering;
Under 18 player - $50 (includes unlimited entry to SNHC, insurance and membership card)
Over 18 player - $65 (includes unlimited entry to SNHC, insurance and membership card)
You must select one of these to be eligible to play
In addition, for 2016 HV introduced two(2) additionalmemberships; 1. Supporter membership;
$20 cost, but allows unlimited access to the SNHC - so this should be of interest for parents and friends wanting to avoid the casual entry fees of $4.50/visit charged at SNHC during the season.
2. Officials membership;
$20 cost - for umpires and game officials (tech bench for VL teams) and includes entry to SNHC.
If you registered with Hockey Victoria last year, you can use the same email address and password to logon. If you have forgotten your password, you can click on the "forgotten your password" link on the logon page to reset it (please do not register as a new player again so we can avoid duplicate entries in the system). If you need to change you email address, please email email@example.com to have the email address changed on your account. If you are new to the club in 2016, please follow the prompts to register as a new player. NOTE: When you are registering, you must select one relevant Hockey Victoria Subscription type AND at least one relevant KBH Brumbies Subscription type.
