Fun in the Kitchen, Parent-Child Class

Encourage healthy eating habits and appetites for youngsters. Learn easy ways to use extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar with simple summer snacks. An engaging class at Saporito for parent and child, ages 5 and above. Friday, June 16, 10am OR Saturday, July 17, 3pm.

Summer Salads and Spritzers for Adults

Fall in LOVE with salad! Learn to dress three different summer salads at Saporito with fresh extra virgin olive oil and true balsamic vinegar. Thursday, June 22 from 6:30-8:30pm.

Healthy Habits 2017 and the 8th Annual Taste of Gainesville!

Saporito is delighted to team with other local businesses with a passion for health education. Healthy Habits 2017 is a free event, open to the public, THIS Sunday, June 4th, 3pm - 6pm, at One Love Cafe in Magnolia Park. Discover locals that play a critical role in the health and wellness of the Gainesville community. Learn how 2017 can be your healthiest yet! 🍇

ALSO on Sunday, Saporito is super-excited to participate in the well-known event, the 8th Annual Taste of Gainesville, June 4th from 5-9pm. This fundraiser benefits four children's charities, including PACE, Child Advocacy Center, Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Central FL and Tyler's Hope for a Dystonia Cure. Come help local children, taste delicious food and enjoy the Iron Chef Competition with us!

Red Cabbage Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon robust Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
  • 1 tablespoon Sicilian Lemon Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • zest of 1/2 large orange
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Directions

Combine the cabbage, EVOO, balsamic vinegar and orange zest in a large bowl. Add the coriander and season to taste with salt and black pepper. Toss until well mixed. Refrigerate 1 hour. To serve, divide onto two plates, sprinkle the cilantro on top and serve chilled.
